Windows XP is plug and play, so it doesnt require any drivers on Coby's end. You need to do Windows Update to update your drive package, it seems you are missing the USB MASS STORAGE device driver.

You can also use Coby Media Manager from the manufacturer for media transfers. See next page for how to download and install Coby Media Manager, for XP download the execute file coby-mediamanager-2009b0924.exe on next site:
http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=fix_mp822
After download and installation, run Coby Media Manager:
select Tools > Device Manager...: select MP-550 from the list:
click Add : click OK to have the MP-550 as your operating device.
Under Device Configuration you can set the synchronizing location and
bitrate conversion for audio.

Coby mp-c827 mp3 player

your probably using the usb extension cable, plug the unit directly into one of the rear ports on your computer tower and it should show up..these units never break..unless there is physical damage itself.

HELP ME PLEASE!!

I'm not sure which Coby I have but my computer wouldn't read it when I plugged it into the USB port. What worked for me was to take out the battery, plug it into the USB port, add a couple of mp3 songs, unplug it and plug it back in. It was recognized with all the existing media on it and I could edit and delete. Hopefully you have room to add an mp3 or two. My solution last time it happened was to reformat and reload.

Wow! You only have 128mb capacity. I thought my 512mb clip was small! Okay when you look at your list of songs that you are dragging to your Coby you can only add up to 128,000.000 bytes. That's probably about 20 songs, or 7 stories. When you look at your listing, and highlight it windows will add up the space you need for you. The cord connects the Coby to the usb port on your computer and also charges the Coby.
