I purchased a GE microwave oven in March 2008. It was working just fine, then I went to use it again, and it will not heat anything. The light comes on, the turn table turns, but does not heat naything. It makes a very loud buzzing noise as well. I never put anything in that doesn't work in it. Any suggetions or is this covered with a warranty?

I'd say you have a bad magnetron, but it will have a full one year warranty on parts and labor.

Microwave not heating.

1 thing here you can check yourself. You need to remove the cover of the microwave. Make sure it is unplugged first. To remove the cover there should be a series of phillips head screws on the backside of the microwave. Once the screws are removed then you need to lift the back of the case towards the front there is a lip at the front that holds the front down that is why you need to lift the case from the back. Once you have accessed the inside follow the powercord from the plug into the microwave along this cord you will see a fuse. Very IMPORTANT do not touch both sides of the fuse holder at the same time. There is a charge stored in the microwave that will curl you hair remove this fuse with a fuse puller (purchased at an auto parts house) Take the fuse to an appliance parts house for replacement. Should be in the area of 10.00 or so. Replace the fuse put the casing back together and try the microwave. If it doesn't work then the magneto or magnatron whichever the machine has is blown and in that case it is cheaper to buy a new microwave
Good luck hope this helped you some

Rudy0819: My GE Microwave Spacemaker model JVM1440WH01 just stopped heating. I used it earlier and it worked fine. When I went to use it again, it won't heat. Everthing else works, the light, fan, etc,...

The most likely thing is the magnetron has 'died' but there is a high voltage fuse between the capacitor and the magnetron which may blow. Either way, repairs to microwaves are dangerous and should only be undertaken by a qualified repairer. PS I have seen a mouse cause this problem!

Microwave not heating

You need to replace the whole door latch with an original part.

If it is working but not heating, then test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron. If all this are fine, test the control board. If turntable is not running check also the door switch.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

You can also order from MicrowaveSvc , they also provide parts.

New Microwavbe that will not work.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.
