Hello I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite L300D. When I start the laptop it shows just a black screen. I hear it working but the display shows nothing. Also it is really hot near the fan, but I can deal with that. What is wrong with the screen that is always black when I start the laptop??
Thanx in advance,
Lina

You may have killed your laptop. BIOS have little to do with an OS like Windows, Linux, etc. The display issue is the culprit. Using another computer go to Toshiba website a get the current BIOS for your laptop. Are you able to access the BIOS at all? (press Del during bootup? to enter the Config screen (looks like DOS)
There's a good possibility it's the video card or motherboard. Have you tried pluging it in to a monitor? Some times the bord is more expensive and time consuming meany people I know that have had this problem just cut there losses. Sorry hate to be the bearer of bad news.
try to attach an external monitor and see if it works ..if it does it means that something is wrong with the screen ..either the ribbon or the back-light or something like that .. do not forget to activate the external monitor with Fn +F4 if it do not work with external monitor either ..than probably its the ram memory or the video card ..I wil open the back where the ram memory is ..and remove them and put them back ..If you have more than on e..just insert one at the time cause one might be damaged .. also try to insert a operation system disk ..and see if it boots from the disk ..in this case you just messed with the video card settings ..but I doubt cause it should show at least some writing before going blind.. but if it do not show anything its usually from the display ..(in this case will work with an external one ..)
Have you run one of the many programmes that clean the registry or indeed gone to a previous time stored by the system to get a "working point" to clear the problem? Search for AML for their free software, it works very well! Good luck
It looks like a hardware problem messed up the software side of things. I suggest you get to safe mode, backup your stuff and get a good system restore (with the installation disks or recovery partition on certain OEM machines)
Have you tried cycling all the way through the options with the F4? Most laptops toggle in a manner similar to: 1) Laptop only, 2) External display only, 3) Both displays, 4) Back to Laptop only (cycle repeats).

this shows all the l300d models at the bottom and what the card is in it. I would get the newest available for speed, and reliability. it is N. an N router will be backward compatible with B, G, and A
