Question about Washing Machines
Open the back cover and start the washing cycle. When the agitator cycle begins check if the motor rotates. If it does not and the humming sound comes there is problem is withe motor. Also check the tightness of the belt. Even if it is loose it does move but it is slippery movement unless it is completely loose. Anyway the problem is with your motor and the connecting bearing/pulley. You have to ask a technicians to help you out

SOURCE: Washer agitates but will not
Possible fault in the timer unit as it fails to contact on the program set within . It will be good to have the contacts tigtened , use some degreasing spray to clean the contacts. make sure that the connections to the controller are tight.
If there is no result even after a cleaning it is possible that the timer controller unit is faulty and needs a replacement as it is not locking in unison with the program to the contacts.
replace with the same type, make sure that each connection is market and put in accordingly with a lot of attention and care not to misplace the leads.
