Hello,.

Welcome to FixYa.

The "F53" error code on your Thermador "C" series ovens indicates a upper door lock fault, makes sense since that is the issue you described.

Whether there is actually a fault with the lock remains to be seen. Here is what I`d suggest you try...

Locate the service panel for your oven ( should be an isolated 40amp breaker ) and turn it off for a few moments and turn it back on.

This will initiate the start-up sequence which activates and checks the controls and lock assembly, hopefully resetting it to the "open" position and subsequently eliminating the error code.

Let me know how that works or if you require further assistance.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

After you have tried the circuit breaker to no avail..restart the self clean and let it go for one minute and then stop the cycle with the cancel. Should open now.

Thermador door oven wont close

The hinges for your oven's door would be broken or loose and should be replaced with new hinges that are the same as the old hinges where and make sure that they are the same sizes too so the oven door will close correctly.

Why do I have error code F25 on my Thermador oven error codes

clean the touchpad control panel. Make sure the oven door closes properly to prevent excessive heating of the touchpad. If these don't resolve it, it calls for a replacement of BOTH the touchpad AND the relay board. EXPENSIVE!

How do I use the 'self clean' feature? I can't find the manual and it needs to be done

Good luck with that - whenever we use the self-clean function it goes crazy on us - beeping, error codes - door locks up - have to reset breaker to make it shut down. The last time the door got permanently locked - nightmare!!
Also, there is a recall on some of the wall units - ours of course isn't part of that recall - Thermador doesn't care that we can't open our oven - they'd rather you purchase another piece of junk!!

Removing the door from a thermador oven CT130

Usually you will find a hole in each hinge to hold the hinge open when removing the door.

It is impossible to fight the door hinge springs and remove or install the door.

One opens the door and puts a nail through the hole to keep the hinge open for each hinge.

My thermador oven tells me error code 14

Sometimes you can unplug the unit for at least 30 minutes and reset the unit and it wont do it again.Try that first. An error code on a thermador of 14 means latch switch problems.

Hello air pro AC,
Welcome

You said, In the microwave mode - immediate clicking noise at start up. Oven, Convect modes work

Oh there are many things to check here.
1.look at the wheel base turning the plate that rotates your food for crumbs or sticking pieces of food.
2.check that the wheels are not worn down.
3.There can be a problem in the bearing, or linkage, or motor that spins the plate!
Do you get a error code?
How old is it ?

Door is locked- F53 Error

OK...you need to replace the lock, but first you need to get the darn think open. I looked at it, couldn't figure out how, and left it. My 14 yr old starting looking at it (after the kids had their TV, Ipod, etc taken away from him for the weekend.....) and he took a coat hanger from the side to pull the latch open.
The rest is straightforward sheet metal disassembly except for the front panel...label the connectors with a piece of tape before you pull the cables connecting the front panel (unless you are able to read a schematic). You can buy the part from AppliancePartsPros.com
AP2836100 (486324) Latch, door (microwave)
for about $100....next day delivery, and your ready to cook your Christmas goose!
