Oven model JJW9530BAW. When on: sometimes when closing door, light does not go off and fan does not restart. Usually a good hit with the fist against door at 'door switch' area, with it shut, gets it going again. It has stopped on its own with out opening and closing door. Is it the switch at the door, can it be cleaned? please and thank you
open the door and push on the door switch with your finger and see if the light goes out when you push it in.if it's sticking it's internal and the switch needs to be replaced.let me know what you findopen the door and push on the door switch with your finger and see if the light goes out when you push it in.if it's sticking it's internal and the switch needs to be replaced.let me know what you find

is the light oven on??? can you see the switch/button that the door would hit against to turn light off?? if so depress button so the lifht goes off, and start a clean cycle. This should make the lock mechanism engage fully. then cancel cycle and should fully disengage lock/latch (you need to depress light switch to trick unit into thinkin the door is closed)
Unlikely there would be no air spilling through the door seal because it is an oven and not a watertight compartment. An oven door seal needs to be hard wearing and able to withstand high temperatures and hot grease which limits the materials used, that and the fact few domestic oven doors actually latch these days but are held closed by springs meaning the pressure against the seal is relatively light which means the door, the shut and the seal must be manufactured to a high degree of accuracy and properly adjusted.
If the amount or air leakage is excessive perhaps the door could be adjusted or the seal replaced. Try asking around to find someone with a similar oven so you can compare...
you didn't send the brand name and model number but you might have a switch up on the console that will keep the oven light on or open the door and push in on the switch if the light goes out you could have bad door hinges,if the hinges are bad the door can't close tight enough to hit the switch and they'll have to be replaced or the switch is bad.
sometimes there is a switch that operates when the door is opened or closed causes the fan to stop when the door opens. The switch is normally mounted at a door hinge, or hinge bracket.might have to remove a panal to get to it
If you take the hinges off, you can fit some washers between the hinges and the door to make it close it further. Probably not as good as new hinges, but cheaper. 2mm of washers will close a 5mm gap
Try this it worked for me:
Spray the hinge assy including the springs with WD40 work the door back and forth.
Look at the interface of the door gasket to the oven chamber mine was pulled away slightly away from the frame on the bottom I used a hammer and a piece of wood to pound it back tight against the oven frame.
I changed the light switch and that did it good luck [email protected]
the door switch contacts are stuck closed causing the oven to stay on.if you can access the door switch try to wd-40 on it.if that doesnt help you need a door switch.
your neighbour is probably right. fan should work but if the element has disintegrated, bits of the element could be jamming the fan. take the rear panel off inside the oven and check
