It isn't impossible at all. You may need a sound bar if you don't already have a Bose surround sound system or a boom box or something else you can use without purchasing anything. On the hdmi/dvi televisions and cable boxes of the recent past there would always be an accompanying white and red composite/RCA slot (output on the cable box, input on the television) to accommodate this. You would simply connect the hdmi to dvi cable from the television to the cable box and then the red and white audio cable. If your television and cable box does not have the red and white composite/RCA audio input and output you will need to connect the cable box to an external audio source. How to do it and what to connect it to depends on what audio output that is on the cable box (usually is on the back of it). You might need a fiber optic cable and a sound bar with a digital audio input if you have a newer cable box.

There are generally three HDMI slots at the back panel of an HD TV. Make sure you have connected the PS3 and the Apple TV in two separate slots. Sound will work because you must have hooked it up in Audio IN at the back or if you have connected the red and white audio cables in the front panel , the audio will work only on the camera setting on your TV

DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS BUT IS IT HDMI?

G'Day
Although you TV does not have HDMI inputs, you can get an adaptor from here to allow you to plug a HDMI connector into your TV. This will solve the problem for you. Could be a huge cost saving for you, to get the feature without having to upgrade your set. Cheers

I have a hitachi 42hds52 tv; i have my cable box connected to it by both hdmi and coax cable. the coax is fine, but the hdmi is not working

Try the anothe HDMI input or cable or try HDMI from another source (DVD) you could also try component in(Ry,Gy and By) to see if that works.you need first to determine if it's a cable box, cable or TV issue.

Image has duplicate shadow

There should be different HDMI slots on the back of that TV. Switch you HDMI cable to use another slot. Change to that HDMI slot on your TV menu. Sometimes the ports go bad, or there is something messing with the signal.

The HDMI can carry sound and video. Make sure that in your tv menu that your tv is setup under audio has the receive audio from hdmi as well.

Can I upgrade my tv

You can't. Either it came with them or not,.....yours didn't. It's like wanting to make a black & white tv into a color t.v. Although I used to get that all the time.....It's just a tube you pop in!!!! Sorry, the set has to be designed in the first place with that.

Upgrade for Hitachi 51F59A

The slot in the back of your TV is for upgrading the software version . It is like flashing the bios on a computer. If you are
having HDMI issues such as loss of audio, audio out of sync, color problems, intermittant shut off, snowy pix Etc. you may have to upgrade. Hitachi is aware of certain issues and they have downloads available to solve conflicts as they are identified.
