I have a Kenwood KVT-719DVD head unit. There is a problem somewhere between the faceplate and the head unit. if the face plate gets in the wrong position, the head unit loses power. then i have ot adjust the face plate til it get sinto the right position and it'll start working. Sometimes its a real pain and I have to hold the faceplate in a certain position for it to work. Is the problem the faceplate? or the head unit?

You probably have a bad flexible cable. there is a mylar cable that goes from the main board to the monitor that goes bad.

Faceplate is not displaying anything.Knobs are ligthing up but no display. What could be wrong?

You have not mentioned how old it is. Some older models of Pioneer and Kenwood use a flat ribbon cable between the face plate and the head unit. Due to the constant opening and closing of the faceplate the ribbon develops a crack and you loose display or some times some functions. Will need professional help to replace the above.

I connect my kenwood kvt 719dvd and get a protect message

did you check continuity to ground with each speaker wire?
Have it bench tested at a local shop to eliminate or identify the unit as being at fault.

I cant getta dvd picture on my kenwood kvt 719dvd...brake wire???

Did you install it, they generally sense whether youre moving by having a connection to your handbrake, if this is not connected the unit thinks youre moving but usually gives an on screen message.
To disable this you usually have to ground the brake sensor wire( connect it to the body of the vehicle)
YOU TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a cd stuck in my kenwood kvt 719 head unit and the touch screen controls for the dvd are not appearing.

Have you tried hitting the "Reset" button on the head unit?

The procedure is on page 7 of the owner's manual under the heading "How to reset your unit"

Here's the URL for the Owner's Manual:
http://inform3.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/KVT-719DVD.pdf

Per the owner's manual, you're supposed to call Kenwood technical support if the display doesn't correctly reset or come back on and/or if the disc won't eject.
