Zone 2 speakers will play from tuner but not from cd player
I really need some help. I have a Denon AVR 1803/883 receiver hooked up to two zones. The main zone is set up with Bose speakers operating from a powered subwoofer. I also have two outdoor speakers hooked up to Zone 2. Everything was working fine until I replaced my CD player. Now the CDs play in the Main zone when the receiver is set to DVD, and the Zone 2 speakers do not play from the CDs at all, whether Zone 2 is set to DVD or CD. Strangely, the Zone 2 speakers play fine when playing from the tuner or the TV audio. Almost impossible to get to the wiring behind the receiver as it is in an enormous wall unit about 4 inches from a wall behind the wall unit. I can get some of the components out from the wall unit, but not the receiver, Too many wires connected to it with almost no slack. Please help. Jerry
Indoor speakers work great.... except my outdoor speakers stopped working altogether, regardless if TV, DVD, etc is selected. Wiring is all brand new and working properly. I hit some buttons on my harmony remote and screwed up the whole thing. You need a degree in rocket science to work this remote and system. Please help. I've had the exact same problem and I believe I know what's causing the problem. I'm pretty sure that I read in the owner's manual (still available online) that the zone 2 speaker output only handles analog signals (i.e. radio turner, some tv outputs, some cd outputs) but not digital signals (most cd/dvd outputs, digital cable outputs, etc.). I couldn't get anything to play on my Zone 2 speakers until I switched my receiver over from "auto-select" to "analog" and even then, I could only hear the radio tuner. Check your speaker wires on zone 2 and look inthe manual for speaker configurations with zone 2. you may have a speaker conflict. If you still have an issue, post a comment with your speaker setup and I'll help some more. Hope this helps
Turn off zone 2 then turn your receiver on the main zone on Radio, tune in a station and check for audio. Post a comment and let me know if audio works that way. If you don't have any audio, list your other equipment makes and models as well as how they are interconnected to your receiver (cable type) and I will help you troubleshoot
You have to switch your remote into Zone 2 Mode. It will be an option on your remote. Once you put it in that mode, you can change the source just as you would Zone one.
Are your speakers able to handle the 886's power. I have the same reciever and changed by speakers as the Denon would turn off instead of frying the speakers.
As for the digital, have you used the option to change your audio feed and video feed. (for example - I'll show photos through the front input but use the CD -digital for music. Maybe the audio feed is locked onto an analog input. Just a suggestion.
you have to change the power amp assignment to zone 2, you must also have Analog audio connections to the Denon from your devices.
Try this put your remote in the zone 2 mode, select tuner in zone 2 and turn zone 2 volume up to -10
Ron Digital audio will only reproduce in the surround area you will have to connect using analog connections in order to get that sound in the 2nd zone
If the Cd is wired digitally, it will only play through the main zone, because the Denon cannot convert down to RCA to cater for the zone 2. If you plug RCAs from Cd to Denon, Main zone will STILL play from digital, and RCA connection will allow zone 2 to play Cd from RCA input....same with dvd, Satellite Blah blah... no stress, any nasty RCA will do if you want to try before you splash out on really costly cables...perhaps you can help me...want to run AVR 2105 with 2 speakers in zone 2, manual says cant do it - only ably to surround back or biamp...dont want either, dont have stereo yet to try it out...did you have any trouble with that?
PUT YOUR OUTDOOR SPEAKERS INTO SURROUND BACK SPEAKER "PORTS"AS YOU CALL THEM GEMMEG THEN GO TO UR SET UP MENU AND SWITCH ON ZONE 2 OR IT MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS A SWITCH ON THE FRONT OF YOUR AMP.IFF YOU STILL HAVE NO SOUND YOU MAY HAVE 2 TURN THE VOLUME UP FOR ZONE 2.ALSO SOME AMP NEED TO HAVE THE SOURCE ; IE WHAT U WANT 2 PLAY INTO ZONE 2 FOR EXAMPLE YOUR CD PLAYER.HOPE THIS HELPS ,IFF NOT GET BACK 2 ME 2 C IFF I CAN DO ANYTHING ELSE.
Consult the user manual. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded free at Denon's website. Two of the speaker oututs serve multiple functions. Hookup and setup need to be checked. What you want to do is possible as long as you're only using a 5.1 setup indoors.
MY problem is very similar. My Main zone speakers will play from tuner, tv, dvd but not cd. My Zone 2 speakers play from Cd just fine.
