HP LaserJet 1300 Printer Logo
Gordon Patzer Posted on Apr 02, 2017

Do I need a new HP laserjet 1300 driver? My 10 year old HP laserjet 1300 has performed wonderfully but now it prints nearly black on nearly the full printed page. First it started printing extra ink streaks but soon moved to printing early all black (which is opposite of a cartridge running out of ink). I changed cartridges and I get the same results/problem. I then changed to a different HP laserjet 1300 and I get the same results/problem. I tried to download an updated driver but that down load into/onto my computer for some reason I do not know. I am using Windows 7 and Office 2010. Thank you for any assistance or direction that you can give me. -- Gordon

You need to clean or replace the imaging unit. Driver probably won't help.

SOURCE: HP PSC 1350v Check Print Cartridge Light

Check the date on your ink cartridge.  I bet it has expired. If you put in a "new"cartridge but it is even an HP one with an older date, it may not work.
I had my printer stop in the middle of a print job.  It was printing fine and suddenly would not print.  So I refilled the cartridge with an ink kit I had on hand and reinserted it--no go!  Then I opened a remanufactured cartridge (office depot) I had bought some time ago and inserted it.  No go, despite the fact I could see ink coming from the jets.  I finally gave up and bought a new HP ink cartridge, and it worked just fine.  But it bugged me why the new one would work and the other two that seemed just fine would not.

Later I learned that HP has a chip that reads the expiration date on the cartridges and that is what keeps those old ones from printing.  I found one trick of setting my date on my computer back to a year earlier than the exp date on the cartridge.  I saw the date on the remanufactured one I had tried earlier was 2005, so I set my computer date to today date but year 2004.  After forcing me to do print alignments several times and take the remanufactured cartridge out and put it back, I got it to print just fine.  And that 2005 cartridge that would not work earlier is what I am printing with right now.
Be advised, though, if you try the date setback, that HP printer will buck and try every way to not let you use that old cartridge.  You must say no to reflashing if HP tries to pull that on you.  And you will take out and put back that same cartridge multiple times and keep printing alignment sheets 3 or 4 times before you are successful.  But, if you persist, you can get it to work.

SOURCE: Blank Ink not pumping to print head

Turn off the device after removing the printhead After removing the printhead, turn off the device, wait about 20 seconds, and turn it on again without the printhead installed. After it has restarted, reinsert the printhead.

it will go through this long routine of perhaps 20 min or so. after its compleate it should print great.

SOURCE: HP L7590 black ink printing poorly even with new HP cartridge

I have had the same problem It is the print head not the cartridge If your printer is still under warranty have the printhead(s) replaced if not Open the unit where the print heads are and hold the OK button for 5 seconds. The Print head carriage will move to the left

Carefully remove the KY (Black & Yellow) Print head with a cotton swab and alcohol clean the contacts and replace the printhead. If this does not work remove the printhead and then with a spray bottle spray the nozzle area on the bottom (DO NOT TOUCH THE NOZZLES AS THEY WILL BE DESTROYED) HP techs have told me this will void any warranty so act accordingly I use a printhead cleaning solution available from most any online ink supplier

Replace the printhead after it has dried out (less than a minute). The printer will then go through an alignment cycle and should print I had to do this several times before the print head performed as it should

SOURCE: HP LJ 2600 "dirty" printing

Hi,

If the toner cartridges are "refills" that might explain some of your print quality issues. Unfortunately, HP only has 2 replacement parts for that model, the fuser and the ETB (Transfer belt) both would require a technician to replace. Check the transfer belt of any tears or punctures. Careful not to touch it, oils from your skin can cause quality issues as well. If at all possible replace all the toners with ones that were working fine.

HP LaserJet 1300, no panel power and and never any status on the panel.

Question edited for English and clarity.

This printer was $399 in a review when it was new in July, 2003. It is nearly 20 years old, not worth to pay for repairing.

I recently acquired an HP 1300n Laserjet Printer for gratis, installed with drivers and HP Toolbox. My issue is print quality, very dark grey background down the middle 70% Have adjusted all the settings...

one possible cause would be the nozzle of your cartridge maybe their is already a clog that blocks the continuous flow of your ink, try to clean the head by using the maintenance software. Go to control panel>printers>properties>printing preference>locate the maintenance then try to access the cleaning of your cartridge, I'm not sure which location of the cleaning of head better to check all the menus. Hope it helps thanks.

Select your OS(operating system)

By the way,
If you are running WIN7, universal print drivers that come with Windows7 should automatically load.
