Wireless Connection Difficulties

I'm having trouble staying connected to the internet using a wireless connection.I have a wireless router in my house and my computer will connect and disconnect on and off. So i'll be surfing the web and all of a sudden it will tell me the internet connection isn't there. The router works perfectly fine with the other laptops in the house. On the wireless network connection screen, it will say not connected, but it really is. This happens outside of my home as well (Friend's Houses). I can't even connect to iTunes even when I am able to search the web. I have reinstalled the wireless software several times but the problem remains. I'm confused.

Sounds like your wireless card in your laptop needs either a replacement, or new drivers.

you must reset the router by 30 seconds and try again. Remember they have a password for wep key for access. do you do it?when you installed the router the software is you want the connection close or open?
However you must click in open network connection , and select network troubleshooter and fix it.
If the problem remain, you must go to router supplier manufacturer via ONLINE chat, and explain the problem.
or reinstall the Router again follow the steps with your disk instalation.

I would like to know when it say laptop with built in wireless. Does that mine i already got internet service on it. Or i have to buy USB modem.

Hello Blac,

All the laptops available in market have built in wireless 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth® wireless networking. It means that you can access the internet via Wi-Fi or through Wi-Fi hotspots. In wireless connectivity you do not require the wired connection to access the internet. In home you can connect the laptop via wireless connection using the home networking router available in market. The advantage of wireless connection is that you can use the internet in your home anywhere with in 100 meters of range with proper wireless signals. You will require to get the internet connection from the ISP(Internet Service Provider).

I have a DL 524UP wireless router connected to Thomson speedtouch modem and has been working beautifully for months. AAPT upgraded my internet package and since then I have had no end of connection...

Some internet service providers want to charge a fee for each computer you connect to the internet through them, So they setup DHCP to give out only as many local IP addresses as you pay them for. That's sort of like the water company charging you a fee for each faucet in your house...

Assuming that's the problem...

One way to resolve this, is to connect your wireless router's WAN port the ISP's modem, and configure DHCP in your router to supply as many IP addresses as you need to the wireless and the 4 LAN ports.

In case you can't find your router manual, here's a link:

Page 9 has the diagram you need.

I would advise you to buy a newer wireless router, because this one only does WEP encryption, and WEP was cracked some time ago. I you really want to use it, Please be sure to enable the WEP security, and select 128 bits. This router has it disabled by default! (See page 13)

Grandmothers laptop shows good signal and connection but wont let her on internet, using a belkin router. Brought laptop to my house and runs like a champ. Is it the router?

Yup. You may have a good wireless connection TO the ROUTER, but the router itself may have some trouble connecting to the internet.
Check the router management page, check DSL or cable status.
Ping to 208.67.222.222 just to check if it is DNS problem
hope this helps. cya

I'm having trouble linkingto the internet from my Computer, whihc is connected wirelessly with a USB Adapter from Lynksis Compact Wireless- G USB Adapter. Basically it connects fine with my router, which...

Double check your router settings to make sure your USB wireless adapter is permitted to use your wireless connection. You will probably find this under wireless security settings. I set up my wireless routers to only allow mac addresses of devices I specify, to prevent drive-by or neighbors using my connection.

No wireless connection

Go to Parental Control after logging into 192.168.10.1. Then make sure you have allowed the MAC addresses of the wireless clients ( machines). Reboot the router one after making any changes.

Good Luck

Trouble with wireless card

Something has gone wrong with your internet home connection--obviously nothing is the matter with your wireless connectivity hardware. You should reconfigure your home wireless connection. Follow the directions in Vista or XP help to set up a new home wireless connection. There are various ways to do this, such as through a router. If you have a home wireless router, be sure to set it for WEP incryption, or your neighbors will be able to get on your internet free.
