You lost the sensor calibrations. Grab the service manual. Do the four fault clear, enable tech access mode and calibrate paper motion, paper out and platen.

Paper moving fault

If the paper is moving freely in the printer and you are not experiencing any paper jams etc it may be possible the error is being indicated falsely.I would recommend firstly to ensure the tractor feeds on the printer are clean and free from a build up of paper dust etc. As the paper motion sensors are located on the tractor feeds.
If after the printer is cleaned the error is still see the problem may be related for a setting for the Paper Motion Threshold in the printer. this is the point at which the printer detects an error. This value is dependant on a number of factors; Paper Type, condition of the printer etc.
  1. Put the printer OFFLINE
  2. Press and Hold down LINE FEED and ENTER until TECH ACCESS ON is displayed (approx. 5 seconds)
  3. Press the MODE button
  4. Press the DOWN ARROW until TEST is displayed
  5. Press button 1
  6. Press the DOWN ARROW until DIAG is displayed
  7. Press button 2
  8. Press the DOWN ARROW until PMOTTHR is displayed
  9. Press button 3
  10. Press the Either ARROW to set the value to 170 and then press ENTER to save the value.
Once you have completed the above sequence press and hold down the LINE FEED and ENTER KEYS to turn tech access off, you can then test the printer. If the above does not clear the message try increasing the value further.
If the problem persits you may have a faulty paper motion sensor.

I have a Tally 6212. I'm using non Tally ribbons which is producing a ribbon fault. I'm told by my ribbon supplier that there is an override to keep the ribbon from causing the fault. Can you...

If the ribbon is causing the Ribbon Fault, they would not be very well made compatables I would suggest changing to one of the other brands available. I belive the T6215 senses the ribbon turning by having a silver strip stuck on a rotating disk on the back of the ribbon, if this strip is not present or is not being detected it will display a Ribbon Fault. You can check the ribbon to ensure it has a reflective strip by manually winding the ribbon and looking at the back side of the ribbon, you should see a rotating disk which is half silver and half black. If this disk is not present the compatable ribbons would not be that compatable. The T6215 does to have a fault over ride for the Ribbon Sensor on its own, you can only over ride all faults this may cause other problems as Paper Out, Paper Motion errors are also overridden. You can enable fault override in the following way; Press and hold down LINE FEED and ENTER for about 5 seconds untill the printer bleeps. Press and Hold down FORM FEED and ENTER for about 5 seconds untill the printer bleeps. The above actions enabls Fault Over rides temporarily if the printer is powered off or reset Thai setting will be lost.

Technical Services Note
MT6xx/T6xxx (All) Paper Motion Faults 11 May 1995
T645.039
If you are having problems with recurring Paper Motion Faults that don’t seem to stay
fixed by doing the paper motion sensor calibration, try the following:
· Check the back of the form along the left side to ensure there are no black (dark) areas
in the area of the tractor drive holes. (If there are, this is probably the problem. If not,
proceed on down this list.)
·
Clean the sensor on the upper left tractor then run the calibration routine again. If it’s
not better yet, continue.
·
With Tech Access ON, do the following:
Go into DIAG - Meters - Paper Motion and monitor the sensor reading with paper
installed and removed. If the reading with paper installed is in the 300 to 350 mVolt
range, change the sensor (even if it seems to run the calibration alright). A more
normal reading would be something greater than 600 mVolts for the MT691/6092 and
1000mVolts or greater in the 645/661. Don’t forget to recalibrate the sensor. If it’s
not fixed yet, try this next step.
·
Run a configuration printout and then do the following:
1. Clear the NV Ram (Tech Access feature ON)
2. Calibrate the Paper Motion and Paper Out sensors
3. Restore the configuration based on the print-out you just ran

Blk 0 chksum error

fault "blk 0 chksum error" is attributable to a corrupt firmware. Fortunately the firmware can be reloaded and restore the printer in operating condition. You can download a firmware from the tallygenicom.com site under support and drivers then download it in your PC. Normally you need to put the printer is flash download mode also instruction can be seen from the site. If you cannot do this I can assist you with this.
