your battery is dead, you will need to purchase a new battery. laptop batteries are not designed to last forever. they typically only last a few years.
Hi there!
There are two possible causes of the problem - it's either your battery or your AC Adapter.
To diagnose whether or not it is your AC Adapter, test it this way. Does your laptop function with the power cord plugged in and the battery out? If this is the case, your AC adapter is fine and your battery is done.
To replace the battery, expect somewhere between $75-$175. Here is a link to the cheapest battery site I've found so far - I use it for work all the time.

If your laptop doesn't work with just the AC adapter plugged in, then that is your problem! AC Adapters are cheaper than the batteries. They can be purchased here for around $50: http://www.buylaptopadapter.com/toshiba-adapters.html
Make sure you match the model number on the bottom of your laptop perfectly with the model number of the battery or AC Adapter!
Good luck!
Alex
The problem could be your battery. Disconnect the adapter. Flip the
laptop, unlock and remove and reinsert the battery and try to charge
again with the adapter.
If still a problem, this time, disconnect the adapter, remove the battery, reconnect the adapter and try to power on.
If OK, your battery is faulty and needs replacement.
If not, wiggle the adapter where it connects with the laptop. If the
power goes off and on, the power jack is faulty and needs soldering or
replacement. Should be done by a professional.
If not the power adapter, the mother could be the problem.
