Windows update i downloaded this update which vista labeled as important now my sound is gone, i'm running vista home basic as my OS and using a HP 530 notebook processor intel celeron M CPU 440 @ 1.86GHz Ram 1015mb system type 32 bit operating system. the update i downloaded is called Conexant - Audio - Conexant High Definition Smartaudio HD2

To uninstall the driver update you got from there..

press start and right click on computer now select manage

in the management window on the left side click on device manager

in device manager press the + next to sound devices - the one with the speaker icon

now find the conexant high definition or similiar and right click properties

then click on the driver tab and find the roll back driver button


it will install the previous driver and your sound should work again.

Tried to install service pack 1 to my cp with windows vista home basics os. Always error during installation.
Hello arnel_aquas,
try "Updating the {Service Pack1}, by doing a [Windows Update] from the "Start Menu."
First, click on the "Start Button. paul7of9_86.jpg
Scroll in the "All Programs," to 'find' the "Windows Update" shortcut, and click on it to 'open.'
On the {left-side} of the next 'window, select the paul7of9_107.jpg "Check for updates,"
paul7of9_105.jpg "A 'Scan" will begin once you click on it, to 'search for updates.'

Once the [Scan], is 'comlpete!"
There will be a "List" of updates to be installed.
This 'search will also' {Identify which Service Packs are needed in the Computer}.
"Download 'all' [Important Updates].
Note: You 'may' be instructed to "Restart the Computer?

spanish may be already installed as package;if not you can install any language from the disk..
on a personal note vista has great graphics but the system runs slow.if the machine is installed with vista its upto speed so if you was to install xp on the machine you would have a nice fast machine.
