Can't read blu ray disc

We have had this blu ray player for about 6 months and just yesterday we put in a new blu ray movie and it said it couldn't read or just kept saying read and then it said stop and then I believe it said no disc. We tried another blu ray disc that we have played on it before and it would not work. We tried a normal disc (not blu ray) and it worked. So why is it not reading any blu ray discs?

I installed firmware ver 1.8 on my DMPBD30 and immediatelly IT COULD NOT READ BLUE RAY DISKS. Other disks CDs and DVDs work fine. Panasonic support sent me to a repair shop. To me, it is a software problem and they should fix ver 1.8 for compatibility with other hardware

I have the same problem , i have tried the update version 2.2 but it still will not work .My machine is an american import but a local panasonic repair shop[ are going to look at this problem. Do all the rest of your players still play normal dvd's and cd's like mine. The first time it happened im reset the player by holding the power button on the unit for 3 seconds , this worked for a week but then failed again. Resetting the player did not work again

We've had our Panasonic DMP-BD30 player for about 10 months, and recently it will not read any blue ray discs ("no read" display) but still reads standard DVD's. I have updated the firmware for this model to the latest release (2.5, released 10/1/08), but this does not solve the issue, nor does a "factory reset" as described in the manual.

Played the first blu ray disc (new). Will not play either of the other two new blu ray discs.

Waiting for a reply from Panasonic.

We searched the internet and found out that many people had the same problem as us and the reason for the problem is a defective part. You have to call panasonic and mail the whole unit back to them for the needed repairs. It really stinks to have to give up our player for so long but what else do you do? Never buy panasonic I guess.

I thought that I deleted all of my information from your website when we discovered our problem. Please do not charge me for this. Also please get rid of my info. If I ever do need help again I am happy to try your site. Thanks for asking.

Same problem. Got panasonic BD10A, was working fine for 2 weeks, but after firmware update just stopped reading blu-rays. DVDs only now. Pretty expensive DVD player uh? ;)

Anybody any idea how to revert firmware to the factory standard 1.0?

My Brother had this problem, so he let me borrow it to take a look at it, although its a samsung he had the same problem. I opened it up and took a look around and noticed that their are a few safety screen located on the corners of the motherboard, Also on the bottom of the ROM itself. So I tightened them and found one that was loose, With out the screws touching the contact points your Bluray player will not read Blurays. Although this may not be everyone fix it did work for me!

Had the same prof the problem and found out that you need to clean disk real good before every use. Any finger print or anything else on the surface will prevent the disk frpm being read.

Vizio vbr210 error 11000404 How do I update firmware to watch newer blu ray movies?

I had the same problem -- we even returned the disc and got a new one. Go to the Vizio site and download the firmware for your player. Put it on a USB stick and plug it into the player. Follow the onscreen instructions (basically just press OK). The entire process takes less than 5 minutes from download to finish.

The Hunger Games works perfectly now.

A new "Tangled" movie disc not play in Blu-Ray

As newer bluray movies come out they are constantly tweeking the format. More then likely you need to update your bluray players firmware or software. There should be an option under the menu for the bluray player to update the unit of course this will require that you have it hooked into the internet via ethernet cable or wifi network.

Can I play Blu Ray discs on a DVD-224 player?

No. Blu Ray media requires a different device technology provided only by Blu Ray players. It will not play on a DVD player.

Player suddenly freezes

Try running a dvd cleaner through it first, before trying anything else (the type that looks like a DVD with a brush underneath).

The regular DVD might have been a fluke (scratches, rental?, burned dvd?)

Was there anything special about the new Blu-Ray Disc - what was the tile? On certain titles, you may need the firmware upgrade found at:

I put the disc in the player ithen tries to play then it says disc not valid .

Same here!!! We've only used it maybe 8 or 9 times. And it's been worthless for the past month because of it. It reads everything "no valid disk" and nothing will work. And I tried e-mailing customer support several times, with no luck.
