We've replaced our Lamp on our HD61G887 JVC, we had it on for five to ten minutes then turned it off however when we went to turn the tv back on it would not turn on. The lamp light started to flash again and then just shut itself off. what could be the problem. There is nothing wrong with the lamp we've had it checked.

The glue is just protection as far as the lamp gone if you bout an after market on that probably the problem I went threw 5 of them before I to it to a TV repair shop he put in a oem lamp and it's work fine ever since hope this helps

Look first to see if lamp went in correctly, on most sets if look carefully you will be able to see if lamp fires up for even a few moments or not.

The lamp is powered by a ballast and that could also be bad, the place where it connects (usually two pins) goes directly to the ballast.

If issue is different from before the lamp was replaced you may have a new lamp that is bad, its rare but can happen.

how about the power supply did you check, if their is any bulged capacitors which need replacement.

The 5 blinks error code means that the lamp driver is faulty. How good are your electronics/soldering skills?

Download the user's guide and see page # 77 to find the info on how to remove and replace it.

Go into menu and keep scrolling down unitil you get to reset lamp timer. Press right arrow press ok.

This is something that cannot be easily guessed at. There may be a failure in part of the power supply, and on one of the processor boards.

You will have to have the Samsung service rep do the necessary repairs on your set.
