Hi my wireless router is not working..i need security key for that..how can i get that key

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa! The security key for the Belkin router is what they also called the Pre-Shared Key, it maybe in the form of word, phrase or series of letters and numbers. The key must be between 8 and 63 characters long and can include spaces and symbols, or 64 Hex (0-F) only. Each client that connects to the network must use the same key (Pre-Shared Key).

1. Click on the green Belkin Router Manager icon (right-click for Windows) to open the menu, or type 192.168.2.1 into a web browser.

2.On the Belkin Router Manager menu, scroll up to Router Settings and highlight.

3.Click to open the Belkin Router Setup page on your Web browser.

4. You must log in with a password to make changes to your Router's settings. If you have not yet set a custom up a password, leave this field blank and click the "Submit" button.

5. Click the Wireless > Security link from the page menu on the left-hand side.

6. On the Wireless > Security page, you can retrieve your password(s) from the fields to the right of the Pre-shared Key (PSK) > entry.

7. Uncheck the Obscure PSK box to view and retrieve your password(s).

8. Re-check the Obscure PSK box to obscure your password(s).

How do I put a password on my Belkin Router ADSL 7B5FOF as it is unsecured ?

To setup a wireless password/security for your Belkin router you need to use a wired computer to do the configuration settings.

1. Open a Web Browser (IE, Firefox etc.) on the wired computer.
2. In the address bar of the browser type http://192.168.2.1 and press Enter.
3. Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit. (Enter your password if you have setup any.
4. Click on Security in the left hand column under Wireless.
5. Select WPA-PSK (no server) from the Security Mode section.
6. Enter your Pre-shared Key (this will be your wireless password).
7. 7. Click on Apply Changes.

Your wireless network is now secured.

I need to password protect my belkin pre-n router...can you tell me how?

You can enable the wireless security on the router's GUI.

Access the GUI and look for wireless settings, from there you will see the option to enable the wireless security either WEP or WPA.

My belkin n route is unsecured how do I fix this problem

No, you're not safe.
Disconnect your router from your cable-modem (or DSL-modem).
Reset your router to "factory settings", which _are_ safe.

Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4)

hello!

normally, if you configure the wireless security settings wirelessly, it will automatically disconnect you from the network. you have to input the security key on the laptop first before it connects you back to the network.

i suggest, if you really like to configure the settings of your router, get an ethernet cable, connect it directly to the laptop so you can access and configure the router settings and to avoid from being disconnected
