-Every single time the player is turned on it rebuilds the entire 30gb library.
-Can't make any playlists either on the player or on a computer.
-Says docked on screen but says no player conected on the computer
I've got the same problem. several days ago it was in a condition where every power-on (after several hours of non-use) caused it to rebuild the database. i thought the mp3 tags were at fault since i had seen this earlier on thie zen vision:m 30gb, but i had fixed the situation at that time by fixing all of the tags. i hadn't had the problem for months... at least until last week.
so, i rebooted the zen into the utility (?) mode where I did a chkdsk (or whatever its called). that didn't fix the problem.
i then started having another problem. I could select a track, an artist, or album and the music would play, but i could not skip forward or back into the song or to the next song. the now playing screen told me to select music (even while music was playing) but it would not display the track details.
i tried connecting to my computer and the autorun dialog comes up asking if I want to start media player, etc. any of the options that i select tell me that the device cannot be found. it recognizes the USB connection otherwise it wouldn't tell me that I have a zen and want to start the media player, but the applications don't know what to do with it. i see the same behavior with media explorer, mediamonkey and other apps. I cannot use Explorer to browse the zen file system either.
i tried to reload the firmware, but the device could not be recognized.
i went to the utility menu to format the drive, but i still cannot connect -- and I no longer have any music.
i reset all settings. still no improvement.
i installed the software onto another computer and i see the same behavior... it sees the device when i plug it into USB, but the applications do not see the device.
any ideas??
thanks!

Zen Vision M: Starts the rebuilding process, looks as if it completes it then nothing happens. I've tried to clean and reboot same thing once it gets back to rebuilding goes threw the process but stops or freezes when at the end. What is there to do? Can the music be recovered???
Same problem. All music is still there but playlists are gone and cannot be remade on the unit itself. Is there any fix for this? I thought it was windows VISTA causing problems so I set up a dual-boot system and the problems persist in Windows XP where there had been no problem before (on old computer..).... HELP!!
Rebuilds library every time I turn it on, but does not restore all music. Cannot dock properly, so new music can't be added on.
