I am a new Home Max customer and I have followed the instructions to connect my Live box to my PC. My laptop is working nicely wirelessly but my PC is not. The problem is that Internet Explorer keeps closing down everytime I try to enter it. Don I need to adjust my setting? How do I do it please?

Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network. These instructions assume the wireless router is already installed with a working Internet connection. Here's How:

1. Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet port (sometimes also called a wireless network bridge) must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi game adapters that connect to a USB port.
   
   
2. Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."
   
   
3. Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.
   
   
4. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)
   
   
5. Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP.
   
6. Save your settings and verify the network is functional.
   
   On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live.
   
   On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.

Tips:

1. Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. These issues can be caused by the quality of your Internet connection or the firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) settings of your wireless router. Additional troubleshooting may be required in these areas to achieve reliable Xbox Live connections.

This is only a problem with the firmware of your modem/router that you need to update it, because a network device like a modem and router that is working fine for severla years and suddenly stop working you just need to update the firmware of it and it should be working fine again, to update the firmware of the modem/router just need to call the manufacturer for that....

Maybe you need to turn on home networking in your desktop pc and allow other devices to connect to the internet through it. If you have not turned on home networking or set up your wireless connection access in your desktop pc then go to the ICON's in the control panel and follow the instructions.

Set up wireless first by going to the control panel and looking for the wireless set up wizard. Then follow the instructions.

Then do the same for home networking. Look for the Home networking Icon in the control panel and choose set up new network and follow the prompts.

Add the Home SSID to the Preferred Network List After you set the SSID on your home gateway, you may need to add it to your preferred network list if Windows XP Wireless Auto Configuration is enabled. (Although automatic configuration is nice to have, your IT department may have disabled it on your laptop in order to meet their needs. If they have, you'll need to use the tool provided by your laptop or wireless manufacturer to manually configure wireless settings.) To manually add your home wireless network to the list of preferred networks when Wireless Auto Configuration is enabled, follow these steps:
• In Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
• Right-click the Wireless Network Connection, and then click Properties.
• On the Wireless Networks tab, shown in Figure 3, click Add.

• In the Wireless network properties dialog box, shown in Figure 4, enter the SSID you configured for your wireless gateway (ExampleHome_g in this example.)

Note: Figure 4 assumes you've added the Windows WPA Client Update. If you haven't downloaded and installed it, you probably should. For more on the WPA Client Update, see Overview of the WPA Wireless Security Update in Window XP.
• Fill in the rest of the fields, including the necessary authentication and encryption information based on the configuration of your wireless gateway.
• Click OK and your home network will be added to the list of preferred networks.
Now, whenever you're at home, your work laptop should automatically see your home wireless network and connect to it.

NEW LAPTOP? Noticed a lot of post for same Laptop as same time.
If try to use wireless - you need to set-up wireless part of router and wireless part of laptop (Wireless Software).
Setup your network same it is on the PC.
Use Network setup wizard, if not know how in system manager, in the control panel.
Network Name is same on both, MYHOUSE is good.
The only thing different should be NAME, like SYS02,
PC would be SYS01, and IPaddress ( first 3 sections same as PC - Last section is indivual system - example follows:
PC = 192.168.1.40 then LT = 192.168.1.41
Suggest you hard wire laptop to router to verify network connection then work on wireless connection setup after you get connected thru hard line.

First try to repair ur windows If u can't repair it then just format windows.
First take data backup...............

You need too set up a totally new network.goto networks,click setup new network and follow the instructions. You will need the password for the livebox and more than likely need to call your network provider. If you have a desktop pc in the building its probably easier to set up a Home network

There are a few ways you can use wireless to get the laptop online. The easiest way would to buy 1. Wireless Router and 2. Wireless USB Adapter. Follow link for some pretty good instructions to setup a home wireless network.
