My crown for my bulova precisionist watch won't screw down

It is possible a tiny gasket is inside the tread... needing to be REPLACED before proceeding.

First check to see if it is a "left-hand" or "right-hand"
threaded CROWN... Then check that there is no damage to the STEM or the CROWN... You will need at least a 10x (power) jeweler's loupe to see that.

If you have any damage... A watchmaker might be able to dress the treads and save the ORIGINAL PARTS...

Else you are probably looking at replacing both the stem & crown...

CROWN-STEM WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE

possibly you will need to clean around the threaded part of the case (pipe), when screwing the crown down push against the case and rotate gently back and forth until the crown catches the thread.

The crown unscrews and comes of is this normal Is there a spring inside?.

The crown is attached to the "stem" by screwing them together. The procedure, and this is not a good do it yourself project in most cases, is to remove the crown and the stem. Hold the stem in a "pin vise" and apply a threadlock to the threads and attach the crown. Install the crown and stem in the watch and check to see if everything still works(setting, time adjustment, etc.) Might pay to have a watchmaker do this, this is more technical than it seems.

Screw down crown wont lock

There are only two things that can cause screw down crown to malfunction. First is dirt and second is weakened/damaged thread. In first case you need to use ultrasonic cleaner by immersing the crown AND case to get rid of any dirt and grime sticking on both threads. If the matter is weakened/damaged thread - you will have to fit new crown and (possibly) new case tube on which crown is screwed onto. This can be done by decent watchmaker only.

Stem of watch won't return to its original position

The winding crown is loose on the stem. Get the stem completely out of watch and while holding in vice or pair of pliers screw the crown back on tight. Do not overscrew it, as the stem may brake. Even better would be to unscrew the crown first, dip the threaded stem end in to the Superglue and then screw the crown back. It will prevent from the same problem in future.

I cant pull out the date/time pin on my luminox 3204. any suggestions?

On some watches - scuba usually - the crown has a rubber seal and that seal is engaged when the crown is screwed to the case. If your watch is like this, you need to unscrew the crown before you can pull out the stem. Twist the crown in a counterclockwise direction several turns. You will be able to tell when it is completely unscrewed because youwill feel spring tension. Pull out the stem to set the watch. When you finish, push the stem back in. Push against the spring tension and carefully thread the crown back onto the case. That should do it.

I pulled on the crown and it came off the stem

Do not open the watch yet, as you do not know how to get the stem out.
Take an eyeglass and examine the crown. You will find the small hub in the centre of the crown. If the centre of this hub is hollow and you can see the thread in it- you will be able to screw it back on stem (all watch crowns are screwed on to stems, never pressed).
If the centre of that hub looks filled with metal, then the stem end is broke and you will need replace stem AND crown (the metal filling the hub is the broken end of stem).
In case if the crown still in tact, let me know by asking questions and I'll guide you through all the process HOW TO.

Invicta Lupah crown replacement?

If there is no problem with the stem then you can just screw it on. I suggest using a thread lock to insure a good fit. Start by taking the back off and hold the stem in place with a pair of needle nose pliers. Be sure to start by turning the crown in the reverse direction so you dont cross thread. Once you feel it hit the beginning of the thread you can turn in the on direction.
I always recommend having this sort of service done by a watch maker/technician who can reseal the watch and pressure test it to be sure it is still water resistant.

Broken stem off aromen gobletover 50yrs old maker bleirristall made in bavaria.germany 24% clear stem any chance of repair have broken pieces was my Mothers passed away meens the world to me please help...

Is the stem broken near the crown? Or do you think there is enough stem to take out of crown? If not you probibly will have to go to a watchmake (NOT a watch repairman) to make you the stem. If there is enough metal to take stem out of the crown you may be able to get someone to solder the stem back together. I do that reguarly with stems that are vintage, and I don't want have the time to remake the whole stem. Let me know. Good Luck!!!!
