It just recently began to malfunction and the music and/or movies always sound staticky. I bought it in July of this year for college and have never had problems like this before.

If you have a external speaker try to connect the external speaker and check how the sound works on the external one.. If it works well then the internal speakers have gone bad.. Contact the computer manufacturer to replace them.. If the sound plays scratchy in the external on then unistall the drivers from the device manager and reinstall a fresh copy from the support website of the computer manufacturer.. If you dont have a external speaker better reinstall drivers if the issue is not fixed contact the computer manufacturer....
