We have an Asko T760 and the drum in making a loud rumbling noise even when we manually turn the drum. It is fit snugly to the rear outlet hose connector and the lint holder is clean. What is making this noise?

Hello- You may want to check the blower wheel for lint build up. It's not too difficult but you will need some TORX screwdriver bits, I think T10, T15,T20. Just get a whole set, it's probably cheaper. Make Sure the machine is unplugged before you do anything. Take off the lower panel, there are 2 hidden screws under the panel, once the screws are out just pull the panel off. On the left you will see a plastic cover with a wire coming out of the middle and i think 3 small screws (T10?). Take those out and pry the cover off carefully with a small screwdriver, there are retaining tabs that you have to bend back a little. Once it's off you can see the blower wheel (looks like about a 5" diameter plastic blower with louvers). Check to see if there is a bunch of lint built-up on it, I have seen this happen many times. If so clean it off and reverse process. The other thing that may be happening is that one of the 2 front support wheels is cracked, these are pretty hidden and a real pain to get off; best left to an Asko Tech. It could also be the rear bearing but I have never had to replace one of those. Anyway, good luck.

How do I tell how old my kenmore dryer is?

What exactly is this 'loud noise'? Is it a constant grinding or rumble sound that changes with drum speed or is is an occasional thumping, banging noise as the drum speeds up or slows down? A grinding or rumble is often a drum bearing and Thumping is commonly the 'suspension' the drum rides in to stop it 'walking across the room or shaking itself to pieces as it goes into high spin speeds. Your machine's age will only affect you if it is a very old machine and parts are difficult to find.

Bosch WTA 3510 uc/13 FD 8203 compact dryer is very loud. Motor is okay. Just changed the main pully. Belts are okay. Still is a loud rumble when operating. Any ideas? Rear bearing appears to be ok

DRYER MAKES NOISES.

A loose or worn BELT can make funny noises

Or the idler pulley that puts tension on the dryer drum drive belt could be worn out. If the pulley is bad we recommend also replacing the belt.

The glides on drum worn and making metal to metal contact.

The drum slides or glides support the front of the drum. As the drum rotates over the years, the glides wear out and then the dryer makes noise. Replace all of the glides as a set if they are worn out.

CHECK FOR LOOSE BELLOES inside the drum

Sometimes an item can get stuck inbetween the drum and the housing and scrape and grind making funny noises, things like coins, bra wire, nails, hair pins, etc sometimes u can just remove the cabinet and observe by turning the drum by hand or looking for scratch or scrape marks on housing.

The blower:

Clumps of lint, socks, and other small articles of clothing can get past the lint filter and into the blower wheel. If the dryer makes noise, and the noise seems to be at a very fast pace, there might be something caught in the blower wheel. In addition, the blower wheel sleeve might be worn out, allowing the blower wheel to wobble on the motor shaft. If this happens, replace the blower wheel.

The bearings:

The drum bearing supports the rear of the dryer drum. If the dryer makes noise this bearing might be worn out. Replace the bearing if it is worn out. Do not lubricate the bearing, the lubrication will attract lint and dirt and accelerate the wearing process.

The bearings TEST by moving drum by hand u may be able to feel loose or rough movement. And listen to sounds when turning it.

The drum rollers or castors:

It is very common for dryer drum rollers to wear out. If the dryer makes noise, particularly a loud rumbling noise, one or more of the rollers may be worn out. After removing the drum from the dryer, inspect the rollers.

Check for cracks, dryness, or damage and not engaging drum properly. Sometimes u can use high density LITHIUM BASE gear grease to re oil/grease them.

Noise in operation. A loud rumbling noise when

Any noise must be identified with a good observation of the point of noise source.
This can be done with a good view with all safety precaution while the unit moves. Use good lighting and make sure that you are not putting your hands into any moving parts while the set works.
Now disconnect after observation and manually turn the drum, the motor and the rotor to fix the point of noise. this can be a faulty bearing assembly or a faulty suspension all of which will require a resetting/reassembly.

ASKO T760; Drum "Thumps" rapidly

I have replaced the drive belt and rollers, to replace front support rollers you need to take drum out to gain access to them. the part that takes the longest is removing rear panel, the 4 screws around the drum bearing and the screws that hold heating element to the rear panel. Then you can rotate rear panel out of the way, having a small stool or chair for it to sit on makes it a whole lot easier. With this out of the way you can remove drive bely from drum and lift it out of the way. The rubber rollers sre held in by bolts with nylon nuts on the front, be careful when taking out the bolts that you don't knock the nut out of its holder, if this happens you will need to remove the screws around the inner door opening to be able to put the left side one back in. I had the dryer laying on it door to remove the drum an belt, then placed it in the normal position to change the rollers.
Hope this helps, took about 45 minuetes, I'm not a appliance tech.

I have a maytag dependable model number LDE9334ACE. the drum still turns it gets hot but makes a very loud rumbling noise. belt is good

Check the front drum rollers (that support the drum) for smooth surfaces and good bearings. The rear drum bearing could be bad also, but is less likely. Check the entire length of the belt for any missing portions. Hope this helps!

Loud rumble sound, Vent hose vibration

That model of neptune dryer had a problem with the blower housings cracking. When the housing cracks, it binds forward into the blower wheel making a loud "rumble" noise and vibration. If you open the door and manually turn the drum and you hear a rubbing noise and feel alot of resistance, then you have a cracked blower housing and need to replace it. It is not an easy job to replace, so if your not familiar with dryers, you should have a technician replace it. Let me know if you have any further questions. shane

Drum makes a clunking sound when rotating, even when empty

This machine has roller wheels in the front that are not adjustable, but rather need to be replaced if they have a bad spot or something. Usually what I see with a clunking noise(clunks once or maybe two quick clunks in succession) is that the dryer has been set down hard on the ground and has put two dents in the roller surface of the drum. To check this, just unplug it, pop the top off (3 screws in the back and tilt it up) and look at the very front edge of the drum. rotate the drum by hand (carefully so you dont pop off the belt) and look for any imperfections in the suface, such as dents. If you are getting more of a vibration type of noise, I would also suggest taking off the lower front cover then taking of the blower wheel cover located to the left side and checking that there is no lint built up in the blower wheel as well. Good Luck!
