I have a sony vio vgn-c140g and it wont turn on

As noted above, i went to work and my lap top was on and plugged in. when I came home it was off, so I pushed the button to turn it on and it did nothing. Is it because of the dead battery even though it was pluggged in?
thanks
bianca

You say your battery doesn't work? Try removing it and then plugging it in with your AC Adapter. If it boots now it's because of the dead battery. If it doesn't check whether it boots with just the battery installed. It's either your adapter or your battery.

If it boots without battery, but with adapter --> dead battery.
If it boots without adapter but with battery --> broken adapter. (this can have multiple reasons, loose internal contacts, insufficient power, short circuit)

If none of the above is the case then you should contact Sony for there might be a problem with it's internal power system.
If one of the above is the case however check your warranty and get either the defective part replaced. (or if possible check with someone else's first).

I hope this helps, please rate.

Greetings,

DarkNeogen.

Is there a spot for a sd card on the sony vgn-c140g

If there is one it will be on side or front of the computer. You can always buy a sd card reader that plugs into your usb port.

Try buying a SD Card Reader that reads many formats from Tiger Direct at:

http://www.tigerdirect.com

When the site comes up just type: SD Card Reader in the white search box at the top of the page then click GO.

Or if you camera came with cables you can plug one end into the camera and the other end into the computer's usb port and turn the camera on. The computer will recognize it and you can search through the folders on the camera for the pictures.

The sound on my sony viao vgn-c140g is too low. I cannot listen to dvds without straining. My computer guy said it couldn't be fixed that was the nature of the sound card. This doesn't seem right. Would...

Try purchasing some USB powered speakers. They will come with the USB cable and audio cable to plug in to the notebook.
I have an IBM T40 and this is the only way I could listen to my DVDs.

Vaio and micro sd

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Since you have verified that the card works (in your phone) and that the adapter works (in another computer), then the issue could very well be with the Sony VAIO VGN-C140G/B. More specifically, the USB ports/drivers. Presumably that the Sandisk 2Gb Micro SD & the adapter were working before and that you are using Windows Vista, pls check your updates that has anything to do with USB. Alternately, you may want to rollback/downgrade the USB drivers and/or seek USB driver update from the Sony site rather from Microsoft.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for your continued patronage of FixYa.
