I have a dell that lost the drivers for the sound and for the internet. I have the sound working now but the device manager says that the PCI Modem driver is not installed and I cant install it. Keeps telling me the wireless network driver is not installed and the adapter is not installed. I can't get those drivers to install. How do I rectify this?

Check to see if you already have a PCI card installed, its common to buy one from a store or a private person and the on-board card does not work and a PCI card installed, check the back of the PC to see if there is a 2nd NIC port avail. and before you go spending money on another PCI card check your device manager to ensure your are not having driver issues. in closing, check your network cables as well and make sure they are all securly plugged in on both ends.
check your computer , the PCI device listing says simple comm controller. check your modem device manager see if its visable and not a question mark in the device manager
The only drivers you need are for the network adapter. If they are there, you're ready to get online. But--if you installed everything and didn't reset your modem, then it won't work. Unplug the modem. Remove its backup battery. Replace the battery and plug it in and restart the computer and then to into my network places and choose the option to connect to the internet.
that is a problem with your DIAL-up modem which is the old style, use your phone and dialin type of internet connection. so basically if you're on high speed you dont really need it, you can right click and disable. if the modem is in a desktop in a pci slot, you can actually just remove it all together. code 10 means the device wont start either due to hardware failure or bad drivers...but again, its a dialup modem and oyu're on highspeed so you dont even need it.
If you need an audio driver, do to the motherboard manufacturers website. You will need your model number. If it a Dell, Gateway, HP, etc, you can go to their website and enter your computer model number.
That is an indication that the modem driver is not installed.
