In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

Removing the CMOS Battery

Some manufacturers backup the power to the CMOS chipset by using a capacitor, so if your first attempt fails, leave the battery out (with the system unplugged) for at least 24 hours. Some batteries are actually soldered onto the motherboard making this task more difficult. Unsoldering the battery incorrectly may damage your motherboard and other components, so please don't attempt this if you are inexperienced. Another option may be to remove the CMOS chip from the motherboard for a period of time.

Note: Removing the battery to reset the CMOS will not work for all PC's, and almost all of the newer laptops store their BIOS passwords in a manner which does not require continuous power, so removing the CMOS battery may not work at all. IBM Thinkpad laptops lock the hard drive as well as the BIOS when the supervisor password is set. If you reset the BIOS password, but cannot reset the hard drive password, you may not be able to access the drive and it will remain locked, even if you place it in a new laptop. ALSO, HIREN'S BOOT CD HAS SOME BIOS PASSWORD CRACKERS ON IT IF THIS DOESN'T WORK.

Hi Good day!! turn off your PC Remove your CMOS battery (2032 3volts) within 1minute and then put it back, turn on your PC now your bios password should be remove.

If you didn't set it or do not know it then the entire laptop will have to be dismantled to remove the cmos battery for one hour to cancel that password.There is no easier way.

Removing the cmos battery nowadays doesn't mean you've reset the BIOS. Check their website and look for how to reset the CMOS. It's typically a little button or moving a jumper.

For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.

Resetting the cmos has nothing to do with the Windows OS. It only helps you if your BIOS is password protected.

...and the whole idea of a password is, that nobody else can hack into your machine that easily, right?

Anyways - there are ways to reset a password: google is your best friend in this case. And you will need access to a CD burner, since you have to boot your laptop from the downloaded "Rescue-CD".
