My Insignia NS-DV4G won't turn on or sync up with my computer, a few days ago I put 2 videos on the player using the folder method, I converted the videos. The memory was pretty full but should of had enought memory for the videos. I watched them on the player once and when they ended the system froze with the screen stuck on a part of the video. I took out the battery and now it won't turn on, i've tried the reset button and nothing happens. It won't sync up with my computer, it makes a weird "da-da-da-da" noise. I have 2 of these players and tried a different battery and still didn't work. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM!!! Thank you!

What operating system do you use?  If you have Windows XP all you need to do is connect it and windows should detect it.  If it doesn't connect it activate the hold switch and connect it to your computer.  It should show up as a USB removable drive.  If that still doesn't work try a different USB cable.  After that I stuck.  As for the software I don't know where you can get a copy.  I looked at the insignia web site and it isn't available for download.  Since it is basically a modified version of Rhapsody you may try downloading the regular version of it and see if it works.  I use MediaMonkey and it works well.

You'll need to erase the internal and external memory, then re-add all your files.

You can use Windows Explorer to transfer files to your insignia sport player. First, in the settings on your player, go to Settings, USB Mode, Connection Type and select File & Folder. Then, plug your player in to your USB cable. Windows XP should automatically find your player and make a new drive letter in Windows Explorer. Simply drag and drop your files from your c drive to the new drive for your player. You'll notice that when you delete the files on your new drive for your player that it doesnt remove them from your player. You'll need to use your player (settings, system, erase internal) to erase internal (and external), but after that when you add new files, they will be added to the player when it does the profiling after you disconnect the USB cable. I have a similar problem. It seems the only way to do this is use the Best Buy supplied program. Is anyone willing to release the playlist format so a converter can be created?

Remove the battery to force the unit to power off. Reinstall a fresh battery and reset the unit by inserting a thin tool (e.g. an unbent paper clip) into the reset port. A schematic can be found in the owner's manual. If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may return to the place of purchase to pursue service options.

Computer wont read my mp3 player wehn i plug it in?

To make it work you have to change it to MSC mode (Only for Windows XP and 2K, it somewhat technical so do it at your own pace and follow instruction:
  • Click on the Start button and Select Settings. Then click on Control Panel.
  • Double click System, and then select the Hardware tab.
  • Click on Device manager.
  • Click on the '+' for Portable device and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
  • Right click and select "Update driver".
  • A Hardware Update Window will open, Select "No, not this time" when windows asks to search for software. Click next. Check the "Install from a list or specific location" checkbox and then click next.
  • On the next screen select "Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install".
  • Click next and then you will see a window showing two drivers that are compatible with your player.
  • To put the device into MSC mode select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click next.
  • A finish installing driver will appear and your device will now appear as a hard drive on your system.
  • To switch back to MTP mode, open the device manager as above and click on the "+" for "Universal Serial bus controllers" and you will see "Insignia Video Player".
  • Then follow the steps above until you reach the "Select the device driver..." screen in which you select "MTP device".
  • Then click next and your device will be reset back into MTP mode.
Make sure your insignia has the latest firmware, this i provide for you also here: http://www.insignia-products.com/t-New%20Video%20Player%20Firmware.aspx

Mp3 player keeps getting SYNC notice

For NS-DA1G and NS-DA2G: If you are receiving a SYNC notice, your DRM media license has expired. If you are using a media manager like Best Buy Digital Media Store or Windows Media Player. you will first need to authorize the player as an MTP device (device authorized to play Digital Rights Management song files) and then re-acquire the licenses for the tracks. There should be a button that allows this function in your media software.

If you want to remove your DRM tracks, got to:
MENU - Settings - USB - File & Folder

This puts your player into Mass Storage Mode. Once in this mode the player will act like a USB drive and you can navigate to and delete your unwanted files.

Insignia NS-DV4G video player Cant connect via USB, pc does not recognize, no cd!! help plz

I used the method that you use to update the firmware.
Turn off the unit ,,, slide it to HOLD. Then plug into the USB.
Seems to work every time for me .. Hope you have the same luck.
Strange that it has always worked until now ... same OS .. no updates since then ... But at least I can access it.
There is no driver I can find in the software bundle CD.
