My Maytag, Model A882 series 11 washing machine will not fill with cold water, when I choose warm or hot it only comes out hot. If I fill with the hot, it will wash, drain, but will not fill because the rinse is with cold water. What controls the cold water flow?

ok, i have the water dual valve out of the machine, i put power to one side and it pulls open, i tried the other side and it does not. So i believe this could be the problem. the Only challenge is no returns on electrical parts. hope this works. Thanks GINO

PS, not bad for the first time in 20 years that I had to open it up.

Good day,
This is usually caused by the dual water valve on the back of the machine failing.
It supplies both cold and hot water to the machine.
In your case, it appears the cold water side of the valve has failed.
It is a none repairable item, and you will need to replace the valve which is available at any decent sized appliance parts house.

However, before replacing the valve, make sure the cold water from the faucet is turned on, and with that hose removed, make sure cold water will come out of the hose if you turn the cold water valve on.

    Good day,

    You got it. It'll work.

Best machine ever put on the market. Cherish it. Nothing anywhere near it's quality on the market today.

    Glad it worked out.

Water comes up to tub but doesn't fill the tub. Help and when I pull the knob I hear a humming noise

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
The humming noise your hearing is the inlet water valve solenoid. Before proceeding try switching between warm cold and hot to see if any of those selections give you water. If you get water on either hot or cold then you probably have debris in the inlet screens of the water valve where the hoses connect. Turn off the water. remove BOTH hoses noting hot and cold installed positions and the use a thin knife blade on the outer edge of the screens to lift the inlet screens out of the water valve body. Wash then under slowly running water rubbing them between your fingers. Reinstall the screens. Connect the hoses in their original positions, turn on the water and test your water fill again switching between warm, hot and cold. This should get you going. If your still having problems after doing the above; please respond with MODEL: number and I will help you.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My Maytag Neptune FAV6800 washing machine overfills on the rinse cycle. Pulling the electric power does not stop the water flow. I have to turn off the water at the faucet feeding the hose. It seems to...

If you pull the power to the machine and water continues to flow then the water inlet valve is stuck open. You will need to replace the water inlet valve. The Service manual will step you thru the process.

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

The water inlet valve is p/n 25001046 Substitution: 12002242 Water valve shop around for best price.

Is this Cold water inlet valve issue? If so and you only do Cold water wash/rinse like me you could switch the fill hose connections from hot to cold to hot at the faucet. Turn the hot water faucet valve off and select Warm/Warm temp selection and you will be filling with cold water wash/rinse. Maybe that would hold you over until you replace the Water Inlet Valve assembly.

You can check out your pressure switch transitions as I had this poster do for his issue at this link http://www.fixya.com/support/t5471295-washer_fills_water_begins_agitate_but

His issue seems to be a definite stuck pressure switch not water inlet valve such as yours. Check to make sure your pressure switch is OK by watching the fill point transitions as I mention in the post.

If you machine is a series 12 or above the Low and Mid fill pressure switch transitions will toggle at the same time. Series 12 and above us a 2 level pressure switch. Series 10 and 1 use a 3 level pressure switch.

Good Luck………….. D*ick

Maytag Performa wont fill hot water

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.

its the problem of drum getting blocked by any clothes getting tucked up.also try to move the drum manually with the machine off.if it makes any noise its the faulty motor.or drum has lost its alignment.it needs to be reseated properly in that case. -------------- The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. Maytag Legacy Series Top Load Washer model SAV515DAWW When filling, the cold water just trickles in and takes a long, long time to fill. When I unscrew the hose from the washer and turn the water on it...

From what you have said, you may have a bad solenoid in your water fill valve. it's the rubber piece under the debris screen. if you can get that out and replace it, you'll be golden.

HOT WATER NOT COMING INTO MACHINE

lets see hear.what the water fill hoses are connected to is call the water fill valve.when you select a water temp.,electricty will then go to ither water valve coil or both for warm.so if your not getting hot it could be first that the fill screens at the hose at the water valve is blocked .but most of the time thats not true of hot because minerals drop out in the water heater before getting to the water valve, unlike the cold water.so if screen is clean, next would be voltage to the water valve.if its getting voltage but not working then its the water valve.if its not getting voltage then use the wiring diagram to see what componet is before the water valve.may be water selector switch or timer
