This problem is caused by 2 things, the computer is set to a higher resolution that the monitors can handle, so when the graphics card drivers kick in as windows boots the screen goes blank, this is normally the problem for people trying to hook there computers to normal lcd televisions not monitors, as monitors generally are able to show higher resalutions.

In your case because you are using computer monitors, the problem will be caused by the refresh rate settings on the windows, most desktop lcd monitors have a fixed refresh rate of 60hz, my guess is your computers are set as 75hz therefore as windows boots the screen goes blank because it dosent support that high a refresh rate.

To resolve this problem, just before windows boots press F8 on the keyboard, this should bring up a black command prompt screen, at the top you will see the safemood option, tab up to it and press enter, this goes to windows but dosent load any drivers including the graphics driver. Once loaded right click the mouse in the middle of the screen, and bring the display properties window up, in this window click on the settings tab, click on advanced on the bottem right of the window, this will bring up another window, click on the monitor tab, on this window you will see the screen refresh rste setting, click the small arrow and set this to 60hz and click ok, in the other window reduce the resalution down abit using the slider, click apply and close the window, then reboot the mechine as normal, the problem should now be sorted, any problems post me back. thanks and hope this helped.

When I start my computer, the monitor can take up to a 1/2 hr to display. I have dual monitors; the 'Acer' will eventually blink/show 'Acer', then fade. It repeats every 3 seconds. The...

your problem sounds like you have bad capacitors on your monitors power board. once you start it, they do not have enough capacitance to give to start the monitor, but after letting it for some 10ish minutes or so, they capacitate enough to start. even then, after some time, they will lose the capacitance because they are feeding the monitor in constant power when the power from the outlet drops a bit, but being bad - they will shut off your monitor. some repair shops can change capacitors only, others would make you change the all power board

Acer al511 Powers on Problem

I would try this monitor with other PC first before taking it apart.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Acer monitor swtiches itseolf off in i9n about 15

After much ado and waiting for tech support from Acer, remembered that some years ago something similar happened with a printer so I downloaded a new driver from acer for the monitor onto another computer, copied it to cd and then with much fiddling installed this on the acer, as it was installing monitor started to flicker and finally lit up again normally. Now working perfectly! When tech support phones, will tell them!!!!!!

Emachine destop not recognising acer lcd monitor

It sounds more like the computer isn't starting up. The "no signal" message is coming from the monitor itself to tell you it's on but there's nothing coming in to display. Normally no special drivers are required for the monitor, and you'd see at least the computer maker's splash screen and BIOS messages if the computer was starting up properly.

You'll need to determine what is keeping the computer from starting up. Make sure it's getting AC power and that the power light comes on when you press the front panel power button. You may need a power supply. If the computer comes on but doesn't boot you may have memory problems or trouble with the motherboard. But your monitor is working properly.

Acer al1916 monitor goes black

You probably have a few dodgy caps on the power board inside. It's an easy fix if you are confident around electronics.
If not, pop it off to your local TV repair shop and have it taken care of now before it gets expensive with a complete failure.

Hope it helps =)

Monitor dims for one account, not the other

I would first contact the GF administrator and ask them if they've heard of this before. Then I would contact Acer.
