I don't know hat the Maintop is...Are you talking about whole stainless cook top? or just taking off the burner and leaving the top in place?
    Thanks

It is not so simple to pull the top. Does someone have a DIY video of how to pull the Thermador Top SGS365ZS?

Usually the igniter control module is located in the rear of the unit , often on the right side. Open the cook top from the front , it should be hinged to lift up from the front . Follow the wires to the igniter lead wire and then follow that wire force the rear of the unit or the right side of the unit . If there is no access panel where the wire disappears through a grommet and hole, then you'll have to pull unit to access the rear or side compartment . There should be an access panel which will allow you to open it and access the main igniter module . I have often found that by following the igniter leads I can locate the area where the igniter module is . As you have the new part , and if it came with new lead wires, then by looking at it you should be able to guesstimate where the module is located .

I've never replaced this, but I can refer you to some diagrams and parts lists of your cooktop which might show you where it is and how to get at it:

Figure 1 shows a detail of the Ignition Plug, but I can't figure out where in the diagrams it is- hopefully this will help you,

In order to reach the ignitor you must remove the maintop assembly which is one unit and it can be pull up. The rest is very easy under the maintop there are the burners and ignitor so you can replace.

Here is a link so you use as a reference.

Frozen locknut on burner Thermador SGSX365ZS

First I would try heating it up until it is red and then twist it off. If that is not an option for you then I would get a rotary tool (hobby size) with a cutoff wheel and carefully cut into it from the side about halfway through. That will get it.

The cooktop igniter wont stop firing even when turned off

one of your burner switches either got wet or shorted out. These switches are located on the burner valve itself. Sometimes you can take a hair dryer, pull the knobs of the control valve and dry out the switch. If this doesn't work, more than likley one of the switches gone bad.

One gas cooktop does not light, no gas smell

Hello Liz. The most common reason for the problem you are experiencing is greasey dirt in the burner. Use a small brush, some fine wire and some degreaser to clean up the burner. Then let it dry overnight and try it again. If it still won't start, you will have to replace the ignitor.

Thermador SGS304 Ignitor does not spark

Hey Frust1
check that the particular burner is properly "grounded" see that no "dirt" is between burner and frame. Also ensure that the insulation on the wire from the igniter unit to the probe at the burner is not damaged.
