Yes the red tube is shorted. I will post a link to the site where I work as they have an entire AV48WP30 with a bad tuner they are selling parts off of including the Tubes. they also provide free info on how to switch out the tubes as a unit which is a fairly easy job. Heres the link.

My screen has blue and red lines across it. Now the red lines are becoming stronger and the screen flashes red until it turns off. how do i fix this?

This is for if the lines are thin and in the form of an arc across the screen.

You need to turn down the screen voltage for the blue and red CRT. I believe the access is through the front on that model.

1) Remove the front grill
2) There should be access panel you need to remove once you remove the front grill. This is where the screen voltage adjustment is located
3) Look for a small black box with six knobs on it. One row is for "Focus" and one row is for "screen". It will be marked, but probably need a flashlight to see which row it is. There will be a "R", "G" and "B" next to each knob to represent Red, Green Blue respectively.

4) Careful with the access panel removed, you are only inches away from very dangerous voltages.
5) slowly turn the R or B knob counterclockwise until the lines on the screen disappear.
Keep your hands away from everything else and only use one hand near the tv. put the other hand behind your back.

6) Once corrected, replace the panel and put the grill cover back on.

How did I correct blue and red lines curved across a blank screen of my KP-57WV600 SONY Projection TV?

This is for if the lines are thin and arc.

You need to turn down the screen voltage for the blue and red CRT. I don't remember if the focus block is in the front or in the back of the tv on this model. Most projections have them in the front.

You could check the back access panel and look for a black box with six knobs as descibed in step 3 below. This is what you are looking for.

follow the steps below if it is located in the front:

1) Remove the front grill
2) There should be access panel you need to remove once you remove the front grill. This is where the screen voltage adjustment is located
3) Look for a small black box with six knobs on it. One row is for "Focus" and one row is for "screen". It will be marked, but probably need a flashlight to see which row it is. There will be a "R", "G" and "B" next to each knob to represent Red, Green Blue respectively.

Sony KP-46WT500 Red, green and blue lines appearing on screen

your convergence IC;s are out, they cost about $40, if you know how to solder, you can do it your self, if not , I would try to find somone that can, service centers charge about 4 or 5 hundred, after you get the new ones, there easy to find on the board in the back of the tv

Sony 65 inch screen tv

The lines you saw, i;m sure they are the ones called retrace lines but know the failure could be located on the red CRT board. Most likely the video amplifier is defective and not necessarily the CRT.
What is the model number of your TV?

I got this TV for FREE from a guy posting it on craigslist because he saw "BLUE SWIRL LINES" also knows as "Retrace Line" on the screen and he went to several repair people and got high repair costs so he was giving it away for free, but i found a guide that tells you how to adjust the tv to make the blue or green or red lines go away, aparantly the line show up because the voltage on the color ray gun tubes that get out of adjustment. Here is the Link to the REPAIR GUIDE. http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html
