Missing screws for detachable stand for Vizio VU42L FHDTV10A. How can I find replacement screws?

It could be the main board. The main board controls the standby light on the front of the set. Check and verify that your 5vdc standby voltage is working. Next, I would check the "on" or "ps on" input on the power supply board. When you turn the set on (either my side buttons or remote) the main board should send a 3.3vdc signal into the "on" terminal on the power supply. This "on" signal from the main board turns on the other half of the power supply thus turning on your set. If you are not getting this signal from the main board, I would suspect the main board. To test your power supply, you can simply put a jumper from 5vdc to the "on" terminal on the power supply. Your 12vdc, and 24vdc power supplies should then become active.

I think if you have to ask how you should not be attempting to do it.

Try to contact (says your set is Vizio here) the company who made it...Also try to GOOGLE MODEL NUMBER OF SET WITH "MOUNTING BOLTS"

1. Unplug all of the cables and cords from your GV42L FHDTV10A.
2. Place the GV42L FHDTV10A face down on a soft and flat surface (blanket, foam, cloth, etc) to prevent any damage to the TV.
3. Pull the stand cover off by squeezing the sides to release the retaining plastic tabs.
(This is probably the trickiest part to find this, just feel around and don't be too rough with the plastic)
4. Remove the four (4) screws (screw's specs: M4, 0.7 Pitch, 15mm long) so that the stand base can be removed.
5. Gently remove the stand base
6. Now, the GV42L FHDTV10A can fit securely to a mount (sold separately) by utilizing the mounting holes in the center of the back panel of the TV. Please make sure to read the instructions of your specific mount to properly hang the GV42L FHDTV10A

The pop has been generated by the explosion (literally) of an capacitor from the power board of the tv. When that happened the power source has been shorted and, if you're lucky, it went in protected mode. Fixing that is a relatively simple job - all you need is a soldering iron and a basic experience in using it. Follow this

With a flannel cloth. If stained use very little Windex sprayed on a cotton rag.

The price range is 500-800 depending where you will get it, try Ebay and look for a non-working one with a good panel (screen), it does not matter why is not working as long as the panel is in good condition.
