Hello, my side by side GE refridge/freezer is freezing along the entire back wall of the freezer. I had 2 defrost the inside from top to bottom about a month ago due to the same problem. It is about 7 years old and I have had no other issues prior. The door seals appear to be fine. Do you have any suggestions? I was told by someone that its probably the defrost thermostat. I dont know what that is. Thank you in advance for your help

This is right on the verge on being the old style or new style. If it has a main board it is new style and this page will help http://appliance-repair-it.com/GE-refrigerator-repair.html

Kenmore refrigerator model 363-58572892 side by side refridge/freezer. Water is appearing on floor in fron of freezer side. Appears to be coming from ice maker. Crack in cce mold? Clogged drain? filling...

Hello,

The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.

I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene

Hi, my GE refrigerator has ice developing on the rear wall of the freezer, and things in my crisper drawer are freezing solid, please help!!!!

Unplug refrig. Empty all food from freezer side and remove shelves from freezer. Remove back metal cover from inside freezer. Melt frost with a hair blower. Examine defrost heater at very bottom of the coils you defrosted. If heater coil inside glass tube is broken, replace defrost heater. (note: replacement may look different, but insturctions included with replacement address that) If heater is not broken, replace the small white pencil shapped sensor at the top of the cooling coils.

Our side by side GE Refrigerator feezer is defrosting and the refridge side is barely cool. The fridge is only three years old. what should I do?

Look at the back wall inside the freezer from the middle down, if you see frost evenly on the back wall then the Defrost system has failed.

Posible fixes, Defrost limiter, Conttrol board bad, Heater Bad, Defrost timer bad.

if you did see the frost you could buy some time by defrosting the evaperator with a hair dryer. (( if you dont know what your doing the please call a appliance repair tech ))

The refridge side of my GE side by side is not working. However the freezer side is freezing up. I believe it may be the Defrost thermostat or the defrost control that went bad. How do I test these.

Without the model number , I will assume the refrig is 10 yrs old or less . If so , would need model number to give you the correct part number for the heater . This test will still tell you what the problem is .
Pull the refrig out and remove the 8 " x 10 " panel . Behind this panel , is the main control board . Unplug the refrig . Remove the BLUE plug from the board , with 3 larger wires going to it . Looking at the blue plug , the sequence will be wire1,wire2,space,wire3 . Get a short piece of insulated wire , and strip about 1/4 inch from each end . Insert 1 end into wire2 , and the other into wire3 . Plug the refrig back in . After about 3 min , look in the freezer , at the bottom , behind the crisper , look for a red glow . If no red glow , unplug the refrig , and reassemble the plug and cover . This no glow , indicates a shorted defrost heater . It is also advisable to replace the defrost thermostat ( pt. number WR50X10068 ) when replacing the heater . To access these parts , you will have to remove the inside rear wall of the freezer . The heater , is at the bottom of the coils , held on with 2 screws , and the thermostat , is the 1 " cylinder , with a blue and pink wire going to it , clipped on the top left of the coils .
If you do get a red glow , then the # 4 thermistor is bad . This tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp and when to cycle off due to selected temperature .

Freezer no longer freezing and refrigerator is not cold enough either.

  1. check if the evaporator fan motor is running (inside the freezer)
  2. Same for the condenser fan motor on the bottom in the back of the fridge
  3. Clean condenser coils underneath or in the back of the fridge
  4. if there is a frost on the back wall in freezer - you've got the defrost problem, check defrost heater, defrost bimetal thermostat, and defrost timer

GE side-by-side fridge is warm at the top of the freezer and fridge but freezing at the bottom of both, any ideas?

Either the fan in the freezer is not working , or you have a defrost problem ( frost on coils & rear inside freezer wall ) .

Frost on back wall of freezer, side by side, wont freeze

It's most likely a defrost issue. One or more of your defrost components have failed. Defrost components are defrost thermostat, defrost heater, and defrost timer or board depending on model
