Sync PDA problem

I just bought a new Vista computer from Best Buy this past week. I have an iPAQ rx3715 that I use to keep all of my records up to date. I have downloaded Windows Mobile Device Center and I have gone through all of the setup instructions carefully but I cannot get the iPAQ to sync with this new computer. Do you have any advice on how I can make this work? The message I get always says that the sync has failed. I have checked on-line for solutions and have not found anything that works. I have hundreds of email contacts on my iPAQ and I don't want to have to manually enter them into the new computer.

Do you have Microsoft Office installed, and if so, did you set up Outlook since Mobile Device Center defaults to synchronizing with Outlook. If you bypassed creating an Outlook profile when you set it up, that can cause Device Center to report a failure to synchronize, since it has no profile in Outlook to send the data to.

Uninstall the Mobile Device Center. Be sure to download and install the LATEST from Microsoft. Make sure your device is NOT connected until after installtion. DISABLE all firewalls for a 15 minute interval. Then just plug in and you should bet set. When you reboot you should be good you may get a pop-up from your firewall, just allow it.

HP Ipaq h1940 won't sync with Vista

Hi. While holding power button, and pressing reset will do a hard reset to your PDA (reset the device to its factory default settings). So if your PDA is working well, don't do it. As for the syncronization with your Vista PC; Winodws XP uses the ActiveSync software for syncronization, and for Windows Vista, Microsoft developed a brand new syncronization software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". It can be downloaded here: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx). When you download/install this software to your PC, you should be able to connect your PDA to your PC without any problem, and definitely without changing any OS in your PDA or PC. Hope this helps.

Hp ipaq seems dead

Without know exactly what already you tried to powered it on, I can only especulate on all the possible reasons, so let go one by one throuh them and their possible solutions:

1. The RX3000 Ipaq family has a known mechanical issue on the switch that senses when the back cover lid is properly closed.

When the switch is nor properly depressed, the PDA won't charge the battery if plugged on the cradle or to the USB sync cable, or won't turn on.

Remove the back cover lid and the battery, put them back again. Check the cover lid is placed flush and that there is not any gap between the cover and the PDA body.

Try again in power it on and/or charge the battery, confirming the orange LED light is turning on.

2. Either the cradle/USB sync cable or the AC wall adapter are defective.

The PDA won't power on if the battery is not charged to the minimum voltage for it. If the AC wall adapter or the cable/Cradle are defective, won't power on.

Put to charge the battery and confirm the orange LED light is turning on. If so, the you can discard that the cradle/USB cable or AC wall adapter are defective.

It the orange LED light won't turn on, it may be either one of these three parts that are defective, or that the back cover lid is not properly closed.

3. The battery dried out. If the battery is defective or won't accept charge, the pda won't power on.

To discard a defective battery, put the PDA to charge it, and it will power on when plugged to the USB cable or to the charger, and check in the settings screen, on the power icon, if the battery is charging.

If the back cover lid is properly placed, and the PDA won't power on when plugged to the USB cable or AC wall adapter, then the battery is not the problem.

4. Discarding that the battery or the USB cable or cradle or the back cover lid are the problem for this problem, the only option that is left is that the main board is defective.

Such failure on the mainboard could be caused for several reasons (moisture or humidity or water damage, or a electronic component that is worn out, or a integrated circuit that is shorted, etc) but it can be only verified and confirmed by an electronics technician.

You have the option of send it to be repaired, or try it yourself, which will require to buy a PDA with working mainboard (or the mainboard alone) and swap the parts. It requires a minimum of technical skills to do it.

How to instal english language pack

Just Google through the internet with the words "rx3715 language upgrade rom" and you will find several references to it.

At the end, you will find a couple of places where they have the lniks to access directly the HP/Compaq fttp sites, and download the ROM upgrade files in different language versions.

Also, in the web you will find a couple of sites that have the specific instructions and procedures to do it.

On purpose I am not giving you such sites and links because I have to warn you: such files and procedures work in 90% of the times. The catch is that such procedures forces the PDA to accept the new language rom, but in 10% of the times, such process is aborted with no apparent reason, and the PDA is converted in an useless PDA, but it is converted in a good looking paper weight or dead brick.

Bottom line, it's possible to change the language ROM (I did it a lot of times before: English, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and French), but it's risky, and it will damage permanently your PDA (such as I did in two of them).

Ipaq rx3715 won't reset.

The description you are providing indicates the PDA has problems in uploading the booting firmware to the memory.

Unfortunately, this means that it needs a professional technician to open and perform a diagnostics on it to fix it.

It may be a defective integrated circuit, or moisture or humidity that got inside de PDA.

Some times is possible to fix it with minor internal cleaning or with minor replacement of electronic parts, but other times is possible to fix it only with the replacement of the main board.

Bottom line, you need to have a quote for diagnostics and repair of it, and make the decision if is better for you to repair it or buy another one.

Won't sync from iPAQ to PC

Sounds like you've got the ActiveSync setting for the Calendar set to one-way from computer to PDA, not Synchronise, which means the computer will always over-write anything it finds on the PDA that isn't in the computer. Try uninstalling/reinstalling ActiveSync, and pay particular attention to all the settings when you reconnect the PDA and it sets up the connection - from memory at this point you can define the "direction" of synchronisation.

Ipaq problem

If I understand correctly your problem, the touch screen of your PDA is not working.

Well, this is a common IPAQ failure. When happens, the only options to repair it are:

1. Soft reset of the PDA. If still does not work, then go to next step.

2. Replace the top digitizer glass.

It requires a very skillful person to do it. If you have not experience with fixing electronic devices, then I do suggest you to send it to repair.

Besides that is necessary to open it, you will require a soldering iron, and desolder the digitizer part and remove it from the LCD screen, which if is not done properly with the right tools, it's easy to damage the LCD screen assembly.

Also, if it's not opened right, is possible to damage permanently the mainboard if is bent or warped.

Also, even though there are a lot of cheap digitizer replacement parts on-line (mainly from China), they have a compatibility issue that prevents to use them in the RX3715 (or RX3115) PDAs.

I have nothing against Chinese manufactured parts, but after buy around 10 digitizers in the last couple of years for different Ipaq PDAs, I found out that only 3 worked fine, so I know what I am talking about.

Is there any device(sim card) that can be attach to my ipaq rx3715

The ipaq has no phone-capable speaker system. The speakers in a phone are designed to allow the user, but no others, to hear the conversation. ipaq speakers do not have this capability. Also, the speaker and microphone are on the same end of the system. If HP had intended the ipaq for phone use, they would be higher quality, and on opposite ends of the device.

Outlook

Check the setting on the ipaq, go to ActiveSync and tools, options, server and make sure calendar, contacts and inbox are not selected here. Then, put the pda in its cradle and let it do a sync, it should change the settings on the desktop and the (sync status on device) should disappear. I had a similar problem and after de-selecting these, everything worked fine.
