JAQ3 soft reset Resetting Your Pocket PC Phone
Occasionally
you may need to reset your Pocket PC Phone. A normal (or soft)
reset of your device clears all active program memory and shuts
down all active programs. This can be useful when the device is running
slower than normal, or a program is not performing properly. A
soft reset is also necessary after the installation of some programs. If
a soft reset is performed when programs are running, unsaved work will
be lost.
You can also perform a hard reset (also
known as a full reset). A hard reset should be performed only
if a normal reset does not solve a system problem. After a
hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings -
the way it was when you first purchased it. Any programs you
installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on the device
will be lost. Only Windows Mobile software and other preinstalled programs
will remain.
To perform a soft reset
Remove
the battery cover and using the stylus, press on the small button
to the left of the battery. Otherwise simply remove the battery, wait
a few seconds and then insert the battery again. To perform a
Hard Reset
Hard reset by pressing device buttons:
1.
Turn off your device. 2. Hold down the Send button, End button
and Camera button. 3. Do not release Send, End and Camera,
press the Power button. 4. After on-screen indication, release
all the buttons.

back up all data and then master reset. Take out the battery for a minute and then put it back, then press the
Left and Right soft keys (the ones that look like a dash above the call
and hang up buttons) at the same time, hold, and softly push the Reset
button on the left? side of the device. Keep holding the SoftKeys until a
confirmation message appears or the device boots up differently.
You will have to do a master or "hard" reset which will reset your phone to factory state. This can be done via Tapping Start > Settings > System tab, then tap Clear Storage and input "1234". Conversely you can also hard reset your phone by holding both your softkeys (the physical keys that map to left and right menu options) and using your stylus to hit the reset button while holding those two softkeys.
I just tried it too. It wouldn't work at first, but this is what i did. At first i kept pushing the softkeys first and then the power button, but you have to do them the opposite way.
Push and hold the on button and as soon as you do that, hold down the (-) two softkey menu select buttons (above the home and <- buttons)
it will take you to the black screen that says its going to reconfigure
then you push the green talk button
it'll look like it freezes again, but its really booting up. so leave it alone. mine took 5 minutes to finish. i really didnt think it was going to work again. but YAY! it did..
Note: A master reset will erase all favorites1 and will restore your device to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites to your computer, you can find instructions to do so on the Garmin site
To perform a master reset on a nuvi 300 series device:
1.Start with the device OFF and unplugged from the power source
2.Touch and hold the top right corner of the touchscreen2
3.Power the device ON while continuing to hold the touchscreen
4.The message "Do you really want to erase all user data?" will appear
5.Remove your finger from the touchscreen when this message displays
6.Touch Yes
After the nuvi resets, follow the on-screen prompts, and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.
Although the master reset will erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.
If the message in step 3 does not appear when using the top right corner of the touchscreen, please repeat these steps using the bottom right corner of the touchscreen instead.
