To reset the lamp timer:
1) With the projector plugged in and turned off, press the 'ON/STANDBY' button to put the projector in 'STANDBY' mode. NOTE: You have to press the button on the projector itself, you cannot use the remote for this step (this is not clear in manual).
2) Now, using the remote, press the following keys in order: RESET, <--, -->, ENTER.
3) Timer should now read '0'.

Hitachi CP- RX60:
Press the RESET button on the remote control or the right-pointing triangle button on the projector for about 3 seconds. Once you see the RESET dialog, use the upward-pointing triangle to RESET. I can't see what you are or are not doing...so please see page 39 of the user's manual (download found below)

Hitachi-CP-S335 :
"The lamp time is the time counted after the last resetting. It is shown in the OPTION menu as the use time of the lamp. Pressing the RESET button on the remote control for about 3 seconds displays a dialog. To reset the lamp time, select the RESET option using the (triangle) button."

Make sure the main power switch is OFF. Hold the "ON", "MENU", and
"VOLUM -" buttons at the same time and turn the main power switch on.
Keep them held until the yellow power standby light comes on, then let
go. It is done.

I unplug my cord, waited for 5 minutes, then reconnect cord holding the power button at same time, released, then proceded with input, left arrow, enter, right arrow and depress power button again holding for 15 seconds, then released. projector warmed up showing the "0000H" on the bottom left of screen...that's how mine worked today.

turn the projector on. open the menu. go to advanced. scroll down to the first option which should be auto source. make sure this option is checked. while on this option press right once, left twice, right 3 times, then left 4 times. another menu will appear. scroll to lamp time and push enter. this will take it back to zero.
