Hello, I have an ECS EliteGroup 945GCT-M1333 v3.0 motherboard. My question is: is it necessary to disable the on board video after installing the graphics card? If so is it done through the BIOS. The card works but not as well as expected. Is it NORMAL and NECESSARY to disable on board video in the same manor as disabling the on board audio when a new sound card is installed? Thanks for your response!!!
The answer is yes. You need to change the on-board video (Known as PCI), & set it to AGP page 36 in you're manual. This setting will be under Integrated Peripherals.
You will also gain back system memory that the on-board video was taking from you're main system memory for it to work.
At start up of the PC press the delete key every two seconds to enter the bios menu. Go to the Advanced menu & find Integrated Peripherals. There is not a disable (per-say), all you do is set it to AGP. That's it.
Enjoy!
Mike
Thought I might inform you about you're ESC board. Though ESC brags about the 1333MHz that the board is supposed to support. It does not. The only way you can reach the 1333MHz fsb is if you could run 800MHz memory. The board only supports memory up to, 667MHz max. If you put a compatable CPU thinking you'll have access to the 1333MHz fsb, you'll just wast you're money. You will not be able to run the 1333 fsb.
Two other users & I have found this out. For them, they were able to return their boards & find another for their CPU's to run as it should.
