[Copy and Paste from VideoHelp.com]
You do not need a disc installed.
- Turn on the player and wait until it says "No disc".
- Press "memory" on the remote (for mine, I had to select "shift" then "memory").
- Select the region number you want or 0 for all regions.
- Press "play".
- Turn off the player then turn it back on.

The player should now be set to the region you selected or be region free.
["End" Copy and Paste from VideoHelp.com]

That should work, Ekse found it at the same place or another. Videohelp.com should be in your bookmarks as it has more help than you can imagine when it comes to DVD players or all kinds, especially the undocumented hacks.

The manual for this player can be found here and you can find what you need to do within it. I will post the exact page number in a little while

Please let me know if you have any other questions

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner

It looks like the player only plays region 1 DVDs which means that any DVDs not from the US will not work and this player can't change regions unfortunately. I would see if Toshiba will replace it in Belgium for you for one with your region. Let me know if you have any further questions or need anything else.

good luck on whatever you decide to do now

    Have a Great Day!

Like I said before, this DVD player isn't a region free player, it only reads region 1 dvds and nothing else. Your options are to only watch region 1 DVDs or to take it to a place and switch it with your local region player

i think there is some problem with the product
    bcz

    click this link

    there in Features section

look for these last two lines
The SD-P1400 supports DVD Video, DVD-R discs, VCD, and CD-Audio.
Despite a clear region four marking on the box, the unit we tested with
worked flawlessly with discs from other regions.

this clearly shows that the player must be capable of playing all kinds of disks.

so i think the problem lies with player.

If that doesn't work you might need to get a hacked firmware to the player. Or a mod chip but I don't know more at this time.

Model# SD-V296-K-TU Is this DVD player region free?

I do not believe this is a region-free DVD player. I believe it only plays Region 1 or All commercial discs. The manual for the SD-V296 is available from Toshiba here: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/manuals/userguides/su2810535/SD-V296_OM.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Can only play DVDs for one region code.

Most DVDs can only play DVDs from a single region. However, they sometimes allow you to change the region at least one time. Another option is to make your DVD player region free. This is a hack that can be performed. Once you do this, you can play DVDs from any region.

Region free?Toshiba SD-140E

Put DVD into player - wait for regional code violation screen to appear. Once this happens press the M (Memory) button on your remote control. Then press 1 for Title 1 and press play on the remote. This will over-ride the regional code violation detection menu and you can watch the movie etc by entering the fwd on the remote control and change chapters etc by using the T (Title/Chapter) button on the remote control)
I found this for other Toshiba SD dvd players, yours was not listed but might be worth a go.
