Unable to connect K550i to computer

I have tried all the ways to connect my phone using the usb data cable, but am not able to. I have installed sony ericsson pc suite and have tried all the troubleshooting tips. Please help as I am not getting any pop up after connecting the usb cable. Can you please advice me what more can be tried to resolve this issue.

    i have t same problem as vini.. but it started after my cell fell on to the ground..but a pop up menu says "unable to recognise the the new usb device, malfuntion .etc" ..i have not taken any remedial solutions...plz help..

    when i connect my K550i to laptop, the driver is not installed automatically, and it is not detected by PC suite, same time, i have another SE z550i model, which gets connected to PC perfectly and automatically.



    I am not sure, how to proceed further, tried all the trouble shooting instructions, tried un-installing & installing the PC suite that came with CD

Uninstall the software then reinstall it....or change the usb cable

First connect your SE mobile phone to PC and when it gives u option to slect a mode, PLEASE select File Transfer. Then in your PC gotoDevice Manager (Ctrl+R>type devmgmt.msc). Now under 'Portable Devices' u'll see ur SE mobile Phone as Memory Stick.Now Right click it and update Driver Software(using CD/Internet/local PC folders).

  • Now before that plz install the latest SE PC suite at DOWNLOAD.
And u'll be fine with everything.

A famous firmware bug, you need to update the phone's firmware, to do so, I've provided a Sony Ericsson's link below, please follow the link to download the utility and read the guide.
You must have your USB Data Cable and an active internet connection to do an update.
Once downloaded, install the application, and the wizard will guide you on how and when to connect the phone.
Note: You should backup all the data before update by the SE PC Suite, as after the update the phone will be in "Out of the Box" condition.

To download pictures there are many ways: 1. Internet (data charges may apply).(located on the Menu of your phone) 2. Computer Pictures (via usb cable)(need to install PC Suite software first) 3. Another phone who has a bluetooth or infrared feature ( these are some cool tools of our phone where we can transfer pics, music, data.. wirelessly) To charge the phone via cable: You need to have a computer and install the PC Suite software in CD that is in the box of the phone. After installation you can then enjoy transferring photos, music, data etc. Have Fun!

Have you installed the phone's software called the PC Suite? If not, you need to install it so that your computer can recognize your device. The cd is with the phone on the box.

    Photo from phone to computer
    Use the USB Cable provided with the Handset... Connect the phone to the USB slot in your computer & select the "PHONE MODE"....
    Run the Sony Erricsson Software CD on your system...after which your phone will get connected with the computer and the Sony Erricsson K550i Icon will come on the desktop....
    Double click on the icon to view two folders of "Memory Stick" and "Phone Memory"..
    Select the folder in which you have the photos/ videos/ music tracks that you need to transfer...
    Copy the same and Paste it on any of the drives on your computer...
    The same works for transferring data/ music/ videos/pics from computer to phone as well....
    There is no need to install the software CD everytime you need to transfer...run the software CD only once on the system and then get conected....
