Err open it do you mean turning it on?You probably were playing on it for too long, also there are some chargers that burn the battery out if you don't keep an eye on them.If it won't turn on now I don't know what you can do to correct it.I used to play on my PSP about 8 hours a day but stopped (mainly because there is hardly anyone left playing Mpo ).

Xperia Play Battery Drain and screen malfunction during charge.

Apps and services in the background drain your phone even while in standby mode. Turning off your 3G or 4G connection will deprive you of the internet but it will still permit you to get phone calls. Meanwhile, you are not having apps such as Google constantly draining your power in the background. And they are, even in standby mode. Charge your phone frequently to help preserve battery life.

Hello fellow gamer :)

It sounds like your PSP may be damaged or the battery is not taking a full charge. If possible, can you try using an alternate battery? If this does not work, you may want to contact Sony for technical assistance.

I have seen PSP updates brick a PSP before and it has to be reset or fixed by Sony.

If it is under warranty I recommend calling them.

PSP 3001 brand new wont charge!! Help Please!!

It sounds like you need a replacement part. If you just got it for Christmas, I would take it back to the store where purchased. If not, I would redeem my warranty, and send it to Sony. If you can't do either of those, then you will have to buy this part:

The PSP will not stay charged. My son used to always play it while it was charging. I was wondering if this would bring about an issue with the battery.

During charging the battery gaining some power to recharge itself. When you use it while charging the battery forced to give you enough power to operate the PSP.It seems your are using power directly from charger instead from battery, and It could damaged the cell. All you can do is to replace it with same model battery and dont play it while charging. If possible turn off the unit while charging.God bless

Depending on how long you have had this psp, your battery may have run out of charges. You may have to buy a new one. OR if you are using any sort of unofficial software or firmware then that may also have killed your psp. I recommend first looking up any similar problems online, uninstall any unofficial firmware or software. If that doesn't help then buy a new battery/psp.

PSP cannot turn on

keeping Lithium ion batteries(found in ur psp) idle for such a long time without charging may discharge them compleatly and even if you try to charge them they will not function. this seems to be a problem with your battries not ur PSP. try to get it replaced from the dealer you bought the PSP from. hope this solves your problem.. :D

New game wont start

This is terrible to say, and I feel bad for you. This sounds as though your PSP is Bricked. Tell all your friends if they are asked to upgrade by a game, plug up your PSP to the power cord and keep it charged during the upgrade needed to run the new games. If your power fails during the upgrade, you will BRICK your PSP. Contact Sony, its their fault. www.playstation.com
