just plug it in the computers 3.5mm jack and switch on the speakers from behind the right hand speaker and volume control is above that speaker. there must be manual you can just read it and try.

there may be a possibility that your sound driver is not installed so check that first.

Go to support.dell.com and type in your service tag where it says "Drivers and Downloads." From there you should be able to find the driver that your computer is somehow missing...

Yes the green wire that goes from the speaker should be plugged into the green jack on the PC. An easy test to see if its the computer or the speakers is to have the speakers on and volume up a little and tap the tip of the green plug with your fingers while out of the computer. If it makes a humming or any noise at all while tapping, the speakers are working if not lets check voltage at the power plug or if the unit has any lights on. Gook luck!

I got mine today (not new) and took it apart and saw two wires that SHOULD go to the bass speaker completely off. It seems to me that there was a line of units that the wires were too short and the workers just pulled them out. I would take it back if i were y'all (if it wasn't from a thrift store like mine :) )
