LG Dehumidifier overflows when attachment tube/hose attached

When we use the dehumidifier w/o the hose, we have no problem. When we use the attachment and the hose, it seems to overflow and not drain 100% into the hose. Any ideas what the problem is?

Me, too. It's a mystery to install. The instructions tell you to remove the plastic circle covering the drain hole in back of th unit. However, when you try to install the supplied drain adapter it doesn't fit securely.

I have the same issue. It seems that the connect from the actual machine to the white plastic hose connector is very poor. Still looking for a solution...

Unit has drain hose to sewer line. It's used for under-house dehumidification.

  • After 1 year of wondering why the LG instruction manual said no more than shove the white hose connector piece into the rear of the unit until secure, and relying on 'hit or miss' that the drain hose would actually work, (rather than filling up the bucket), I have finally found the solution. Ironically, it came while I was on my knees getting serial number from behind the bucket before they would try to help me by phone. There I saw it! The black interior drain piece inside the unit (top right when you remove the bucket) that the white house connector must be secured over. (Nothing in the manual ever told me to look for this.) As for securing the unit in the back--under the big vertical flap (which must point up and remain outside the unit), there is a smaller flap or triangular piece. They say that should be inside the unit, which it doesn't seem to go, because it is parallel to the large vertical flap), but if you push hard enough it does click onto the unit, while allowing the large while flap to remain outside (with the arrow pointing up), making the entire piece secure. Check once more to see if the white hose connector piece is secured over the interior drain piece (a black plastic elbow piece, on the top inside right where you remove the bucket, as I've said), and you'll be good to go! LG should be ashamed of their manual writing on this and the time I wasted getting my two units to work. However, at least these units are not fatally flawed as I was beginning to think.

The hose adapter is difficult too install properly. Be sure that the inlet of the adapter is in position. The adapter will then latch at the back of the unit to prevent it from falling out of position. Also, I had the hose plug with slime one time. Hope this helps.

How is the external tube for draining outside connected to the dehumidifier. Does the tube insert into the right angle nipple, then the threded end conected to a drain hose?

No. The tube inserts straight into the drain hole. Follow the 4 sets below.

1. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector.
2. Remove the drain-hole cover.
3. Push hose connector tightly into the drain-hole on Rear Grille.
4. Press the hose down and make sure the "Arrow" on the tab is pointing upward.

NOTE:
The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting. Do not over tighten the hose when
connecting it to the hose connector, use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the plastic threads. Be sure the hose lays flat and has no kinks, as it will not drain properly.

I attached a hose to the drain hose connector. When I insert it into the drain hole it is blocked by the back of the dehumidifier. What iw the correct way to insert? Can you send a better diagram?

The drain hose connector MUST be attached to the unit, before attaching the garden hose.
First, the connector is attached to the unit. Second, the hose is hand tightened to the connector.
If you haven't been doing it in this order, that's the problem.

Hi, I have an LG dehumidifier, model number LHD650EBL. I have a hose attached and inserted directly into a drain in my basement, bypassing the water tray. Problem is, my dehumidifier is saying...

Try to see if operating the float lever by hand can make it turn off the 'bucket full' message. Maybe use a rubber band or tape to keep it in the on position vs. the 'bucket full' off position.

Check to see if the bucket has to be inserted for the unit to operate, and if the bucket has a nozzle to hook a hose up to at the bottom. I have a dehumidifier of a different brand that has this feature that works with the bucket in, but with the drain nozzle on the bucket connected to a plastic tube that leads to a drain for continuous operation without having to empty the bucket.

How is your hose attached to the unit if it isn't attached to the bucket?

Good luck on this repair.

Can a hose be attached to the LG 45 dehumidifier to allow to drain as it fills?

Yes a hose can be connected to this unit.

1. Remove the drain-hole cover from the back of the unit.
2. Connect a garden hose to the threaded hose connector.
3. Push the hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on the back of the unit

This is explained on the manual on page 12. Hope this helps

Where to hook up drain hose

On the bucket there should be a cap. If you remove it your hose can attach to it. Run the hose top a drain. If possible, raise the dehumidifier so the water drains properly. From time to time, pour a little bit of bleach into the hose to keep mold away.

Have old edison 25 dehumidifier. can i put a tube

look for the drain hole from the collector pan under the tubes that fills the bucket, you could attache a hose there, by removing the bucket out of the way. newer models have a built in one.

Water will not go down drain tube

Sounds like you have a clog. Either try plunging the drain in the stationary tub or replace the line from the humidifer.. Just a thought
