Hello,

Your water leak can come from 3 areas:

1) drain hose on back of washer is coming off / splitting / getting loose

2) water pump is leaking (cracked?) or has a gasket that has deteriorated.

3) hose between tub and water pump has come off / split / became loose.

Since your washer isn't able to hold water, it makes it easy to remove the clothes, and lean the washer forward to see what is going on. Most washers' mechanicals can be acessed from either the bottom, or from the back via access panel. The water leaks are generally a pretty easy repair.

The washer leaks water as it's filling up?

This is a good question; what brand of washer machine do you have?

Is it front or top load?

Leaks water from the front door, from where you load the soap or from the back or bottom?

If it is from the front door it could be the gasket, if it is from where you load the soap it's the same soap clogging the fill hose, if it is from the back it could be the hoses or the fill valve, if it is a top load and you see the water liking from the side or bottom, then, if it is from the side the fill hose is your problem if it is from the bottom then it could be the seal from the drum or just a leaking pump.

Please be more specific

Water leaks (spewing) from sides of bottom of machine when it's filling up

The normal cause of leaking while it is filling is a leaking Inlet hose. Try pulling the washing machine away from the wall and watch the hoses as the machine fills. If it is leaking you can see which hose is leaking. You may either need new tighner clips or to replace the hoses depending on how bad they are leaking. Another possibility is the water pump inside the washing machine could be broken and spewing out water.

My Kenmore 700 series washer has been leaking water. When the tub is filling with water, water seems to leak along the front bottom edge of the machine in several areas. I'm left with a huge puddle of...

First ck to see if your water pump is leaking. It normally leaks when the machine is running not just filling. Also look at all the attaching rubber hoses under the machine and see if water is leaking down the back right side of the machine and then running around the frame to the front long shot but possible.

Water leaks out of bottom of washer

The screw in the washer tub, is not a factor in this. I'm not sure what brand of machine you have, but several machines have a fill hose that connects to the outer tub of the machine. Sometimes when a machine gets loaded heavily, during the spin cycle items in the machine can actually knock the fill hose right out of the tub. Then when the machine trys to fill the next time, all the water runs down the outside of the tub and leaks out of the bottom of the machine.
Repair is to open up the machine. You'll need to remove the top cover and that will give you access to the hose/tub connection. It may be as simple as reinserting the hose back into the drum or you may need to replace it if it got too damaged and won't stay in the hole correctly.
If you need specific how to's on opening up the machine, get back to us with the make and model info and we'll be happy to help you open that washer up!

Leaking water

It probably does need to be replaced IF it is leaking from the bottom. It MAY, however, be leaking at the top and just dripping down to the bottom. If it only leaks when you're filling the cup, then it probably is a top leak. These are generally easily fixed by getting a new slip-on connecter to connect the copper tube connecting the faucet to the nipple on the top of the tank. to remove the connector, push the rings on the ends of the connector (where the tube enter it) towards the other end. Buy the replacement at Home Depot or Lowes before starting to see how it works.

No water coming into machine. Programme not running because the machine is still trying to fill. If I add water the machine does drain. Was cleaned with a good dishwasher cleaner only last week. Nothing to...

Turns out that the dishwasher had a leak in the bottom. No water could be seen leaking out because Bosch machines have a cut-off valve that means if a tray in the bottom of the machine fills up with water, the float valve doesn't allow anymore water into the machine. we worked this out after we tipped the machine slightly, water ran out, when we put it back down and started it the inlet valve worked until the bottom had filled with water again.

New machine for us! However, not a critism of Bosch. We use our machine at least two or three times a day and have done for the last 5 years.

Water coming from bottom of machine

If this only happens when the machine is filling the hose leading to the top of the tub may be leaking. Before it fills this hose is disconnected from the water supply by a closed solenoid valve. There are two valves which feed into a common hose that comes up to the top of the tub where the water runs into the tub. The leak does not happen after the tub fills because all the water leaks out and no new water runs in. These hoses are usually very small and very inexpensive and held on with clamps. They can usually be replaced by removing a small panel near the hose attachment location.
