Get message F9 on the display, I went to clean the oven in the self cleaning mode, heard the door latch trying to close, then it started beeping and flashing the F9 on the display. I turned off power for five minutes and then turned back on, still getting the same message.

From what you have described your Frigidaire oven lock is stuck open and you are receiving error codes "F9" and "DR". The "F9" error code stands for runaway temperature (overheating). This could be an issue with your RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) or the EOC (Electronic Oven Control). I would recommend performing a reset on your oven and you can do that by disconnecting from your oven for ten minutes. The "DR" code means that the door is not closed or the door latch is not recognizing the door is closed. This could be an issue with your door latch or control panel. The "F9" fault code is indicating the control has detected a problem with the Door Latch Motor assembly (key#89) or latch motor circuit. The door latch motor and door latch switches will need to be checked. The door must be closed in order for the door switch to energize. Try pushing inwards on the door and keep tension on it while starting a clean cycle.

Thanks for using FixYa. F9 error in your oven/range indicates an issue with the door locks assembly and/or the door latch. To start with check the door lock circuit, you can also try to jump start it to see if it's working. If it's not working then the Electronic Range control has gone bad and should be replaced, if it is working then the door lock circuit should be replaced. I hit the cleaning button instead of the broiler and the oven lock went in mode so now it thinks it is cleaning but I can't close it and it won't shut off the cleaning mode. What can I do?

To reset door latch, press "cancel" to clear F9 code. Depress and hold oven door light switch (plunger style on door frame). Latch should reset.

F9 has to do with the door lock/latch monitoring switch, i would try to remove the oven for mthe counter andremove the back panel, in the approximate hieght levle of hte top of the lower oven mounted to the right side( standing behind) unit youll find a small lacth / motor assy, that drivesthe self clean latch, WITH POWER TURNED OFF> i wouldlook closely at the switch mounted to the assembly make sure its not out of line , (perhaps twiste doff to the side, not making contact, or something else real obvious.. definalty related ti a faulty read of that switch .chances are it got 2 hot and distortred teh mounting and/or function of that part.. worth a try any way good luck!

Try unplugging the oven from the electrical power. May release the lock, which is held in place by a tiny micro switch. If not and while the electric is still off or the oven is unplugged, use a bright light flashlight to look through the slot where the lock is in the oven, not in the door.

You may be able to use a thin blade screwdriver to move the lock to the release position. Check the angle of the lever. A slightly bent lever handle also can cause this type of condition.

If all else fails, remove the access panel on the front of the oven to access the locking device and release it. May have to disconnect the wires to the lock which will allow door to function but not during any self cleaning modes.

its related to the self clean ltach motr, if you pull hte unit out and drop teh rear panel, approx halh way down on theright side( when behind unit) thers asmall lock mechinisn mavbe 1.5 round, with a connecting rod 2 wires and a witch, well that motor sometimes as it heats looses connection with the switch. the switch is monitoring door positoin so if it loses contact it thinks the door is open and will trigger a code. the entire latch is replacabel (FRont to back comesa sone assy latch motor swittch and rod. 2 wires connect it and 2 screws(by front latch secure it. if youtry to replaceit your self i giveyou the heads up to lie a yard stick on top of latch before removing old latch (thos will keep the insulation in place) andthen when installe ing new latch also use hte ayrd stick ontop to keep insulation inplace!!!!!

I had the same problem on my Kenmore Electric Range. Door would not unlock. Tried pressing "Off" for multiple seconds, but still would not unlock. No error codes. Clock was displaying normally. Finally decided to try running it thru the self cleaning operation to get it to cycle thru locking and unlocking the door. When I started self clean, the door automatically went thru the auto lock and "locked" appeared in the display. I then hit "Off" to clear it and stop the cleaning cycle. The door then unlocked as normal!

try this 1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
display.
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock
