My rear projection cycles itself off and will not keep a picture it flashes colored lines if I unplug for a day or Two it comes back normal after several hours it seems the picture is overtaken by a blackness that finally takes over the whole screen The model is a WT-46807 mitsubishi rear projection

Rear projection TVs are dinosaurs. Sell it if you can get anybody to buy it and get an HDtv they're pretty cheap now not to mention thinner, lighter and better for your eyes. Imagine the space you'll save if you mount it on the wall and the cost of electricity. Not trying to be a jerk but it's time to move into the 21st century. The picture is waaaaay better.
Unplug the tv and leave it unplugged for a couple hours. Plug tv back in press reset button. TV led may flash for a day but should come on. I did this last night to mine and it came on at 11am today.
This is a convergence problem and not really a DIY Many amateurs try it to save money but end up spending more on it than a professional. There are dozens on here that managed to fix it for a day or two only to have it fail again.
Thats usually caused by failed capacitors on the DM board. You can get the V26 DM repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the capacitors and the Cd with instructions.

Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the Power PCB (part # 930B921002).
