Graphire4 Tablet not reading pen

Earlier today i was using the tablet and drawing, then i shut down the computer to take a break because it was 94 degrees out and i needed a break. when i came back about 20 minuets later the tablet works just fine, like i can scroll and everything, but the it wont read the pen at all anymore.

My pen also does not work. I was working on a drawing in Photoshop, and I put my things down for about 3 minutes to go talk to my parents, and when I came back the only thing which was working was the eraser. I've restarted my computer, and it still doesn't work. The tablet itself still works, as it scrolls, and stuff, but the pen tip isn't working. I have to finish this drawing also, because I have a deadline, so it's really irritating.

Same as above. The eraser works, the scroll works, the mouse works. Everything except for the pen tip and side buttons.

I have a very similar problem. Came back to the computer and all of a sudden the pen, when I touch the tablet is highlighting but nothing else. It won't select anything. My normal mouse will work. I don't understand what's happened. Can someone please help?

If you are on a Windows Vista machine, you need to delete your preference files for your tablet driver. The issue you are experiencing is likely due to a corrupt prefs file, which in my case was what caused the problems specifically in photoshop.

I have this problem too with my tablet pen, but what I've been doing is using the eraser side as the pen side. This works in both photoshop AND painter, but is VERY awkward and hard to get used to.
All you have to do is fire up your art program, flip the pen over and select your tool of choice using the eraser side.

Nevertheless, it is a temporary solution until we can all afford to get new tablets. Hope this helps somewhat!

I have the EXACT same problem as all three of you. The eraser works fine, but the tip and buttons just don't work anymore.

Wacom CTE-440 Graphire4 tablet is drawing when I don't want it to

Ok so I called costumer service because mine was doing the same thing. Apparently the pressure sensor in the pen is stuck down. What you do is remove the pen tip with tweezers, blow in the open end of pen, then tap the pen (open end down) in a table to get any debris out of there. Then just put the tip back in and give it a try. That did the trick for me. Hope this helps.

My pen cursor jumps all over the place

You may have an issue with the Graphire pen. Try plugging the tablet into another computer and see if the pen does the same thing there. If it behaves the same way on another computer then you need a new pen from Wacom.

Pen sensor problems

you take out the nib by using a pair of tweezers or a nail clipper but, (now this is what happened to me) is your tablet plugged straight into your computer OR into a usb ADAPTER as if you do that, sometimes it completely mucks things up. make sure it goes straight into your computer as when i did this my tablet was fine
