You would need to do a windows start up repair. Look up the F key needed to go into the factory restore manager should be F12 or F10 but when you 1st boot the pc up b4 or while in the ASUS splash screen look at the very bottom of screen it will tell you there which F key to hit.

As soon as computer is turned on the message bootmgr is missing press ctrl alt del to restart

There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.

The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors, an outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose IDE cables.

i strongly suggest formatting your hard disk drive, and reinstalling the recovery CDs

if you dont have them, get Dell to send them to you -- it will cost you money

Laptop will not start,

looks as though your hard drive is u/s Try and see if it is visible in the bios pages, if not replace it. Bios being, when you switch on you press f2, or ctl-alt.del or just del key. This puts you into the BIOS which tells the computer what it can and cannot do. The 1st page should have your hard drive listed, if not then replace it.

When I turn on the computer I only get a black screen with the message "BOOTMGR missing Press CTL ALT DEL" of course when you press CTL ALT DEL it just brings you back to the black screen with the same...

1. Put the Windows installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer. 2. Press a key when you are prompted. 3. Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next. 4. Click Repair your computer. 5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next. 6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt. 7. Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd , and then press ENTER. • If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes . A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully. • If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command. Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old Bootrec /rebuildbcd 8. BOOTMGR is missing

Just had this problem kept getting

"BOOTMGR is missing
Press ctl+alt+del to restart"

and it just cycles through to the same screen. Called tech support and this is how they solved the issue for me in less than 10 mins

turn computer off completely

Hold the "alt" and "Fn" down and power computer back on
While computer is powering on tap the "F10" key

(you need to hit the F10 key on the black screen with the cursor just before the BOOTMGR error appears)

You should get a screen that says "Windows programs Loading"

And then you have to run a restore to factory defaults (this means the computer will work fine once it finishes up the restore, but everything saved on the computer will be lost)

Hope this helps.
