This is probably a runtime error,what you should do is to;
Open Internet Explorer on your desktop. Click on "Tools" in the upper menu and then "Internet Options."
Select "Advanced" and look at the box showing multiple options that can be activated with a green check mark by clicking a little white box to the left.
Scroll down until you see the message "Disable Script Debugging"--one for Internet Explorer and the next for "Other" underneath. Both "Internet Explorer" and "Other" are in parentheses.
Click into the white boxes to the left of each one so the green check mark appears.
Press "OK" at the bottom, and the runtime error messages shouldn't ever appear again when you use Internet Explorer.
go to menu reset tv to factory default.....this will also reset your color/clock and any other customized features but it should knock out that gray box also
Had this problem also when I rebooted my Time Warner Cable box. Unplug everything from the wall including power strip and wait 60 seconds then plug back in and turn everything back on. Worked for me and havent had a problem since. Time Warner does not know what causes this yet.
You may find it in your "Menu" button on your remote, search for anything similar to "HD Logo" and turn it off. Failing that, make sure it isn't stuck on with transparent plastic, haha.
