The lower burner does nor ignite - Hotpoint RGB745 Gas Kitchen Range

Replacing a surface burner igniter on a Jen-Air Gas Convection Range JGRP536 can be done by following these steps:

1. Turn off the gas supply to the range.
2. Lift up the cooktop and locate the igniter that needs to be replaced.
3. Remove the screws that secure the igniter bracket to the burner assembly.
4. Carefully lift the igniter bracket off the burner assembly and disconnect the wires from the igniter.
5. Remove the old igniter from the bracket and discard it.
6. Install the new igniter onto the bracket and connect the wires to the new igniter.
7. Reinstall the igniter bracket onto the burner assembly and secure it with the screws.
8. Lower the cooktop back into place.
9. Turn the gas supply back on and test the new igniter to make sure it is functioning properly.

Note: It is important to make sure the replacement igniter matches the specifications of the original igniter for proper function and safety. If you are not comfortable with performing this task, it is recommended to seek the assistance of a qualified technician.

It is a gas appliance and it is a Miele, so you need a registered gas technician to service it. In my experience, the spark igniters work on all burners. To clean the burners, remove them all and put them in a large saucepan. Add cold water and dish liquid, bring slowly to a simmer and turn off. When cold, rinse and scrub with a plastic pot brush, paying particular attention to holes and slots. This was a job we did in the restaurant every week. It is a good plan to do before you go to bed for the least disruption.

The ignitor swithes located under the control knobs are faulty or shorted

I'm dealing with this same problem. This cooktop has a dedicated simmer burner which is the only thing going on the lowest setting. This simmer burner seems to be how the igniter senses that it can stop. If it doesn't light, the igniter keeps clicking. Usually cleaning the burner will solve this. You may need to unscrew the nut holding the lower piece of the burner in place in order to clean it up.

I had the same problem and swapped the oven igniter with the broiler igniter and the oven now works. This proved the oven igniter itself was the fault, now I have to replace the broiler igniter with a new one(which is much easier to get to).

FYI: An igniter may glow red and still not allow the oven to work. The igniter has to draw a certain amount of electrical current for the main gas valve to open.

This is not a solution but something to think about for troubleshooting.
On the DCS there are two ports that feed gas to the burner.
One for high flame and one for simmer.
On the DCS if the flame is snuffed out on simmer it will automatically reignite.
So if the igniter will not shut off while on simmer, the sensor is bad and is trying to reignite the burner.

Most likely a hot-surface ignitor has failed. If it doesn't consume enough current, the gas valve won't open. It's usually a fairly easy fix, once you gain access to the ignitor and have a new one to replace it with. Make sure you unplug the range...

I had the same issue and it was because the little ceramic starter "button" wasn't either pulled up, or down (I don't remember). The stove is shipped with the piece in the opposite direction it's supposed to be in when operational.

Depending on model remove burner assembly or thru bottom drawer and remove ignitor from burner assembly.

PULL OUT THE DRAWER AND THAT WILL ALLOW YOU ACCESS TO THE 1/4" SCREWS IN THE LOWER REAR THAT HOLDS THE BURNER IN PLACE ALONG WITH THE FRONT SINGLE 1/4" SCREW. NEED A FLASHLIGHT FOR THIS. THIS FREES UP THE BURNER SO YOU CAN ACCESS THE IGNITER MOUNT SCREWS.
