Absolutely not. It does help with the humidity but you will find it empty each day because air blows over the water tray when on.

I just bought a used Rinnai 1004f propane monitor and it came without the vent to outside. How can I get a vent? (Maybe kit) The wall is 16 inches thick. Jim Marstaller Naples, Maine

is this a vented or non vented unit? have you checked the rinnai distributorship? call Adirondack Hardware in Keeseville NY. They have parts for Toyostove, Monitors and Rinnai heaters. Their staff are very well versed in all kero and propane heaters.

Filter light & water mark

The tray is if you want to add humidity. You will constantly be filling it. The filter light could indicate a dirty blower or debris slowing down air flow over the heater.
