If you were able to access it before and the drive powers up when you turn it on, the most likely cause is that the USB connector is broken. If your drive came with a Firewire adapter and you have a firewire connector for your computer. Then swap the usb with firewire interface and confirm that the drive is still working. If it works then the USB adapter is broken. The second alternative is to try the eSATA connector if you have an eSata interface on your computer get a cable and check that the drive works. Third way to check is to puchase an eSata adapter the allows you to plug the eSata to the usb port on the computer. Forth is to try and open the usb module and solder the usb connector back on. Fifth is to try tearing open the drive case (difficult but not impossible) and put the drive into a different case (purchase at Best Buy, Staples, online, etc)

I have window server 2003 OS and 500 GB free agent desktop USB hard disk is not showing in my computer. So how can i rectify it?

I just finished a Chat exchange with Seagate Tech support. MS Server OS's are not supported for FreeAgent devices.

It appears that whatever drivers exist in the XP install that recognize the USB device connection are not the same in the MS Server environment.

I plan to check the USB device drivers from both systems and see if the XP USB device drivers will work on Server 2003.

Hi

To reply your query in short. If you have any of the following versions of server it would support the maximum RAM upto 4 GB.

Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition SP1
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition SP2
Windows Storage Server 2003
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
Windows Small Business Server 2003

If you are using : Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
It will support only 2 GB of RAM

Freeagent with server 2003 not working

Seems that Seagate did not release a version of software which could be used on a Windows Server 2003 platform. I checked their web site at the following link & didn't find any software supported on Windows Server 2003:
http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=freeagent-downloads&vgnextoid=3723b5b59b7d5110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD

Sorry, but I can't help you with this one. Try contacting Seagat for this & see if they have a solution to your problem.
